Im in Texas will try, they do accept deferred action, in fact DHS has recognized it to be legal

Looks like you can in California:
"Notice of Action (I-797 Approved Petition) - must indicate approved extension of stay or change in status that grants temporary or permanent residency, or indicates that an original, duplicate or renewal Resident Alien card is forthcoming."

Sorry, I thought you lived in Cali lol. Ignore that previous post. But see they do accept it, no need to wait for your EAD.

This is what it says on TXDL website...Do you think an approval for DACA

That should be ok. My state dmv specifically states Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals approval notice is sufficient. It doesn't hurt to try.

I called the customer service number, and after giving my life story, the agent told me she was going to transfer me to an immigration officer. But after it rang a couple times I got a recording saying they were all busy helping other customers. So I left a message with my name and a few details about why I really needed someone to look at my case.

Thank you! I'm gonna try that on Monday.. Let's hope I have luck with the agents because usually they just hit me with the 6 months processing time and that's it!

Unfortunately, I did not receive my EAD card today. Did anyone receive their new card today?
