Gabriel, you did very good,
I think they "melted" the piece just fine. It's like putting a face on a problem. People have to actually realize, that there are actual people behind this pesky illegal immigration problem, before they start to change their minds and act accordingly... and the face, I must add, pretty AMERICAN!

About the "DRIM" sigh, yep, I agree, very embarassing

I believe demanding(especially in Spanish) is counterproductive, it's only puts them on the defensive, but when they see, that we're no different from their kids in anyway, they start to think, imagine, what if... their son, or their daughter woke up one day to find out that she's "illegal" and her life as she knows it doesn't exist anymore, how her dreams are crushed in seconds... Not all of them, of course, but some, and we need exactly those, the most compasionate
We need to win them, we need to win their hearts. It's the only way.

Gabe good job.

It's sad to hear the reporter say that its a smaller crowd than before because it kinda makes us look lazy but its good to hear that Obama will start working on it this month. Yet again Obama talks too much..

dude. like everyone else has said. you have to show america that you want to be american.

for a simple fact, humans as a race are scared of things that are different than their own. so how do you expect "real" americans to support our cause if we come out to protest and hold up mexican, salvadorian, etc... flags. Everyone should hold a United States flag. I understand that people are proud of who they are but leave that in your house. I think that the reason that citizens are not as accepting to us being legalized is because every time we are seen protesting we have a mexican flag or another flag that is not the US's. people would be more welcoming to us if we would carry the good ol stars and stripes. America is a melting pot. and we have to melt in. not try to hold on to our "heritage" if you love your country so much and heritage so much. then go back. its not that far.

so either be american and fully support america or get your ass out. simple as that.

and about the misspell, people do make mistakes. but if your going out in public and want people to take you seriously atleast check it before you leave your house.

its like if i go to an obama rally and spell it obuma. would make me look pretty dumb.

Your entire argument that America is a "melting pot" is to put it simple - NOT TRUE. Just go to your nearest big city and find China Town to see that America has always been accepting of other cultures.

Holding up an American Flag does not make you any more "real american" than the next man.

American Citizens are, in fact, accepting of us being legalized, recent polls have proven that.

You must stop viewing your own personal assumptions and facts in the same light.
1. America is a melting pot, sooner or later the generations do assimilate and mix in with the American culture. For example all of us here, we aren't that "mexican," or "korean," we are pretty "American," especially compare to relatives or friends back in our "home" country. That definitely shows how all of us here have assimilated and have become part of this melting pot that we know as American culture.

2. it may not show that you are American but if you want to be part of this country and your protest is all about that? Well you better hold it up if you want to become an American Citizen. Last time we had Mexican flags during the rally we got lot of crap for it, hence the use of American flags. If you are so proud of your country and you want to hold up that flag? Well you can always go back right? In some ways I do agree that demanding in Spanish isn't effective. It gives those alipacers excuse to say "see they are not even fluent, why legalize people who can't speak our language?" Obviously, legalizing them for work/ agriculture related visa would be different but that's what they would say. I know a lot of American citizens that are not fluent and personally that does bother me...

If I ever march again in an immigrant rally, I would rather be struck by a lightening than to hold up a Korean flag... what the heck? Am I not marching to state my desire to be part of this country? Why in the world would I hold Korean flag and for what purpose?
