DA will have a great chance of passing this year, if they wait any longer it will likely not pass!!!

yupp thats true. and all our dreams will be shattered once again. Hearing obama say " I support the dream act fully 100% " during camp. Well if he does do something about. I thought education is top of his agenda also.

I think DA would have a better chance than CIR and that is my opinion.

As the facts, i think Senator Durbin knows that much better than us, since he is the majority whip.

Don't buy this crap. Navarrete is a Republican so it's in his best interest to blame it on Democrats and pretend like Republicans actually care about us.

The fact still remains that the only reason immigration hasn't been brought up for a vote is Republican obstructionism.

I wrote this almost 10 days ago:

Quote:
Republicans are the only ones to blame here.

The right to filibuster legislation is meant to achieve key compromises between both parties, but Republicans are filibustering every single bill, even if they don't find anything wrong with them, just for the sake of prolonging the debate. Democrats have been forced to invoke cloture for almost all legislation passed so far, and it doesn't seem like Republicans are willing to cooperate in the future.

Just today, a handful of Republicans filibustered a bill to give the FDA more authority over tobacco regulations. Because of this, they could spend up to 30 hours bickering about something that's already certain to pass anyway. By the way, days since their last filibuster: one - yesterday.

It's because of this abuse of power by Republicans that all bills including, health care reform, energy bills, immigration reform etc. keep getting pushed back, and so little progress is being made.
They ended up dragging the vote on the tobacco bill until this week. As you can see, this is all Republican obstructionism and their fundamental opposition to progress so let's be rational about these news and look at the bigger picture instead.

Obama is "delaying" because it's the best way to pass immigration reform? Now Ruben Navarette is a republican? LMAO!! I've heard some whoppers, but this makes the cream of the crop!
First it was dem didn't control congress; didn't set agenda; public wasn't ready; election fears....help me out here people...I'm sure there's more. Now it's "the economy" "it's not the right time" "not enough votes" "we want a bipartisan bill"
Rham Emanuel said after the elections (do a google search) something that was very telling. He said Obama wouldn't address immigration reform UNTIL his SECOND ADMINISTRATION. Obama himself voted to sunset guest worker provisions in 2007 effectively killing that CIR bill. If you don't want to deal with a problem, you pack your schedule with everything you can imagine, give non answers about CIR, and stick with "we'll begin discussions THIS year."

It won't happen this year. Not next year. And 2011 is a stretch at best- it'll be primary season. Some of you seriously need to stop drinking the coolade.

Yes, Ruben Navarrete is a Republican, and if he weren't Latino he probably wouldn't support CIR.

Remember his article supporting McCain (going as far as calling him "the first Latino president") over Obama last year?

So yeah, I'll keep drinking my "coolade", dear. Thanks.

UPDATE: The White House announced Friday afternoon that the immigration meeting had been postponed yet again. The most likely time for a third try: the week of June 22.
Quote:
The White House had planned the meeting for June 8 originally and rescheduled it for June 17. It is being rescheduled for next week, according to a White House official.

"The meeting will happen soon and a new date is being set," the official said
Quote:
Even Obama allies are starting to worry about the delay.

“If it’s postponed, we’re confident it will be rescheduled, but the president can’t keep leaving us at the altar and not going through with the meeting,” one source said. “It’s starting to feel like the guy who has your phone number and will never call you.”
