Feb 98'.....It pisses me off because I also have an aunt and her family who applied and they got their legal status before we did but we petitioned earlier and we still haven't gotten anything. I think they only got theirs sooner because they had the money to help their process.

You all think it sucks because you can't go to school of your choice right now, after high school as I said before, I wanted to enlist in the armed forces and so for 3 months straight, I went to the gym every day and dropped almost 40lbs. If the DA would have passed during the 06-07 time period, I would have probably been in Iraq right now. Then come to find out that bogus groups such as numbersusa was "credited" with the stopping of "amnesty"(which is what those a**holes labeled it) you can imagine how pissed of I was at them. Now their in my crosshairs, they messed with the wrong minority

I personally don't think i will pass anytime soon. you say you are tire of waiting and you are only 19?. I am 26 and I have been waiting since i finished high school. I can't drive. all this time without driving. It is tough so I don't get my hopes high about the dream act anymore but that doesn't mean I don't try hard to finish my education..

I feel for you George...I'm 27...and I've been waiting for this little glimpse of hope ever since the day I found out I had no SSN...(that was back when I was applying for colleges).

Sigh. not to be a pessimist or anything, but sometimes I really just want to pack my bag and leave to another country or something. If it weren't for my family...I wouldn't still be waiting here...

Don't worry hang in there! You are fresh out of high school you still don't know what it means not being able to go to college, not being able to the job you would like to do; worse!!!! not being able to even work.

I’m 24 years old and my father is a USA citizen but I don’t have my papers. I honestly never thought I would find myself in a situation like this. But I am still hopeful I don't care if I finish my education when I’m 30 or 35 I just know that I want to go to college no matter how long it takes.

Be patient and hopefully soon DA will pass, we have waited for so long it is time.

Comprehensive immigration reform is needed and I think they'll probably go for it next year. If you ask me that will probably overshadow the Dream Act.

Well, unless the Dream Act becomes part of immigration reform. who knows

And that just might be better for us. You have to realize they've basically been trying to pass the Dream Act since 2001

I don't know... I wouldn't say it's worse.

They're both frustrating, but with a degree you have chances of getting citizenship and finding a job in another country

while I'm at it. anybody else feel we should be getting ready to petition for CIR instead?
I know this is a Dream Act forum. but still

I may be 19yrs old but I finished high school when I was 16yrs old. And Ive been in America since I was 8yrs old.. So yes I do understand and I have been waiting for a good amount for my papers... which sucks as you guys may know...

Idk when this dream act will actually come dream hopefully soon.. because when Im 20yrs old im outta here and gone to Brazil.. I have family here and Brazil.. but this is all Ive known and I love it here. I wish things would be easier.. I could get my DL, go to school, etc but I cant.. and I have a boyfriend in the same situation as me.. expect his is worst... I have family in Brazil...that are decent as for him hes family is crazy and doesnt give a crap about him or wanna help. So I mean what do you do in this situation... Im pretty content right now .. now that I work mon-thurs and feel busy and getting money... w out time to think negative I feel better. before when I didnt have work I had nothing but time and all I did was think bad things, cry, get frustrated w myself....

I just wanna be able to go school and get a DL and not have to depend on my mom or dad to take me w their expired license lol but all u can do is wait, relax and stop thinking negative. Only God knows the day Ill get my green card... Bad times builds character right?

woah. finished high school at 16? I have heard people finishing at 17 but 16 is kinda rare in my book.

If you came here at 8 years old, did you register as 4th or 5th grade? I don't know what country you are from, but most people whose native language is not English usually tend to delay the grade for learning English. Not sure whether Brazilians learn English since kindergarten.

Maybe you advanced many years? Like skipping some grades cuz you are so smart???

Anyway yeah, you must be smart! :]

Anyway cheer up, and I hope DA passes soon so that we can continue your education without too much about working stress. All we can do for now is to be optimistic and live our life best.

Alo! im 27 too. been here 20 yrs, and patiently waiting is no longer an option. I waited far too long , now im doing all i can in my free time. I URGE any and all of you who are feeling on the brink of madness (as i am/was) to find ways to support the DA and CIR. Great resources available here on DAP or on dreamactivist.org or for those in Texas ( ) go to http://www.txdreamactalliance.com/

And chin up, we must be resilient
