I think part of getting a floor vote on DREAM is having a fight for CIR, but I think it would be pretty smart of everyone who supports DREAM as a standalone to exercise any influence they have over advocacy orgs to get a commitment to DREAM alone if THIS current bid for CIR doesn't lead to a signature on a new law. Advocacy orgs are doing good work training folks and getting media, but if they are gonna get DREAM youth and supporters to work on CIR, we should ask something back from them as a plan B. Not publicly, even, but politicians, and some advocacy groups who count on Dreamers as the workers, organizers and volunteers of their grassroots, can't treat DREAMs as a pawn in their negotiations forever and expect us to keep organizing for them.

Of course, if we don't mobilize, we don't get the power that comes along. Also, we don't get 218 in the House and 60 in the Senate unless we mobilize. And right now today, the count on the Advocacy page doesn't say 218|60.
