They said HCR was hanging by a thread and it passed. I don't think its dead.

^^ Good point...The media likes to overact and exaggerate everything. Immigration is by no means dead. In fact, it is the home stretch for immigration...I am dead sure the president will secure passage of the bill!

well the difference between HCR and CIR is that the Health Care Reform had a legit BILL that they introduced to the people and for a year OBAMA fought with full force to get that BILL to go through... the Comprehensive Immigration Reform however, is totally the opposite. NO BILL, NO COVERAGE in the media, NOBODY is talking about it besides us, and if ever they talk about it, the majority of the topic is how ICE raided a small company and manage to get a handful of undocumented people...

OBAMA needs to have the same will power and enthusiasm to IMMIGRATION REFORM as he did with Health care... so far all i see is BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Didn't Gutierrez introduce a bill on the house floor? How can you expect there to be a bill anyway when health care reform JUST GOT PASSED?? They've been working on it for literally over a year now. To be honest, I'm expecting the Obama administration to continue pushing major legislation once this recess is over because he is on a ROLLLL right now. He has just achieved major victories by passage of the health bill, visit to Afghanistan, signed treaty with Russia and so on.

introducing a bill and doing something about it are two completely distinct things, i just wish that they would atleast start doing something other than just reaffirm their support for the 10th time and go back to doing nothing

Forget about the Gutierrez bill. That was introduced in the LAST Congressional session. There is no bill in this current session as far as I am concerned. Did not Pelosi say that no bill would come to the floor without the Senate moving first on the issue?

CIR bill is legit also. Infacet HCR passed with no Republican support in both House and Senate. There is lot of coverage of the CIR in the background. CIR will get coverage like HCR did when it hits the floor.

We're still in the 111th session of the US congress, so the Guiterrez bill is still there. This current session ends on January 3 2011.

Graham is absolutely right, the white house has done NOTHING to jump start the immigration debate or push for CIR to pass. Look at the bold step he is taking on energy to open up offshore drilling etc .

We can forget about CIR being even considered this year if climate change legislation is taken up before immigration.
