I don't know how credible a source @lafronteratimes (twitter) is, but he's saying this about the meeting today:

Quote:
Rumor has it that today under great pressure RIFA board reversed itself and will now support stand alone #DreamAct
-shrugs- I don't know. We'll see...

for your own mental health, if I were you, I wouldn't expect much from this.

All this is a Calculated.Step.Aimed.At.The.Election.

They just want to look like they are trying hard for CIR/Dream. The mass public is easy to fool.

^^^ Politics is tough at the very least they are talking about it and not ignoring the issue; they do need more pushing though.,, but at least there talking,, keep positive.

This article perfectly describe our cause and how politics ruining our chances. They holding our cause hostage. And, these are liberal democrat who r suppose to be fighting for our causes. If ted Kenedy was alive all these infighting regarding immigration won't be happening. Now I wish Republican come to power in next November. They might hate us and make our life miserable but they don't promise things that they can't keep. They are true their word and take care of the people that put them there.

I've been trying to type this for the past 2 hours, but work is super busy today and I keep getting interrupted. Those of you who can read Spanish can read the rest by following the link, but here is the translation of the excerpt above:

"The idea is not to abandon comprehensive immigration reform that will eventually allow the legalization of 12 million undocumented immigrants that are estimated to live in the U.S.

But due to the reduced posibility that this will be achieved before the Nov.2 elections, activists consider that for now, it is best to achieve part of the deal, rather than nothing concrete.

'It is not that they are abandoning comprehensive reform, but if the window of opportunity is closing for immigration legislation, these measures would be an initial step towards a long-term strategy to achieve reform' explains the source (an anonymous legislative aid).

These groups expressed their wish that this year won't have their efforts go in vain this year; that key elements of comprehensive reform are appoved this year' the source added.

So, during the meeting, representatives from pro-reform groups discussed with Senators the posibility that Congress approves this year the legislative works known as AgJobs and Dream Act. According to the same source, in this meeting participated Senators Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, Richard Durbin and Bob Menendez.

The pro-reform groups that had representatives in this meeting were America's Voice, NCLR, UFW, Reform Immigration for America, and CHIRLA.

When asked by EFE, none of the groups wanted to talk about of the content of the meeting.
