What a selfish comment! Either you are happy for him or you are not.

if passed, the bill could fast-track permanent resident status for students like Balderas, who were brought to the U.S. before they were 15, graduated from high school and either attended college for at least two years or served in the military for the same amount of time.
Since when did the bill say you have to be here before you were 15? I've seen this mistake in a couple of news articles out there.

If you don't think it's fair that he gets to stay and has a work permit, then go out there and raise awareness for the DREAM Act. Call senators, DO ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN so that we can get out of this shitty situation. Yes, most of us would want to be in that position right now, but Eric is going to serve as an image for the Dream Act. If you sit around and sulk about it and think it's unfair, then you are just going to be wasting your time in this country. Without a fight, the Dream Act will not happen.

Your comment is no better than Reform Immigration For America who wants all or nothing. Saying it's unfair is like saying he allowed himself to get caught on purpose because he knew he would get to stay because of his Harvard background. I am happy for him and I don't think it's unfair.

according to the 2009 version of DREAM ACT, you have had to be here before you were 17.

also, deferred action does not mean you get legal status, it just means DHS has put an administrative hold on your removal proceedings due to case-by-case humanitarian reasons. it does not mean you can adjust your status from illegal to legal. you are allowed to apply for work permit while you are in deferred action status and stay in the US, but it does not grant you any eligibility for future immigration adjustment purpose.

Wow, I was not expecting that. I don't think I'm selfish. I said I was happy for him. It's a good thing.

I'm just saying what all of us feel. You are happy for a person when something like this happens but you cannot help feeling just a tiny tinge of resentment because you wish that it was you instead. Don't tell me you are jumping out of your seat for him and throwing parties. I am happy for him, but I'm still upset about how my life is. I don't know if I explained myself correctly. Hopefully somebody understands what I'm saying.

And geez, take it down a notch guys.
