The only thing I would toss out is the possibility of innovation/automation eliminating many of the current unwanted low wage jobs. If we still have so many illegal immigration and the jobs they do disappear, then what would they do? It would create a big problem that is kind of being seen during this ongoing recession.
I do not think that is a current problem. It will take years to develop robots that can replace construction workers and farm workers. It is more of a science-fiction scenario that we do not have to worry about for the next 10 years or (certainly) more. Like what you said, such an innovation would create a problem for not only Americans but also everyone else around the world. And, I firmly believe that other innovations will create opportunities and jobs while others like the one you mentioned will eliminate them. For now, I would worry more about the “export” of “American jobs” and the national debt/deficits.

It is more likely that other economic problems will cause recessions before robots take low-wage jobs and cause a hike in the unemployment rate. While these right-wing extremists try to blame undocumented immigrants for the recent recession, it is not undocumented immigrants that have created this economic crisis and the high unemployment rate. They claim that undocumented immigrants lower wages and cause unemployment. It might be partially true, but what would happen without them?

It was those legal Americans who were careless enough to let banks lend subprime mortgage to everyone. The “Let’s take back jobs from illegal immigrants” good-old campaign among the Tea Partiers and right-wingers is just a way of placing blame on those that didn’t cause this unemployment and economic crisis. If they truly want to “take back jobs”, let them do. Low-wage jobs are a necessary evil. They should make legal Americans get low wages, which they truly hate. Otherwise, they should let businesses leave the country with their beloved “American jobs”. History shows that humans have a tendency to blame others for their problems in times of trouble. In addition to that, the U.S. Congress in the campaign mode with the Republicans poised to gain seats. It is just a way for them to maximize their gain.

It was the United States that took jobs from Europe, and it is now other countries' turn. If the United States truly wants to hold on to its title as the #1 economic power, it should adapt to the changing world. Jobs move from places with high wages to those with low wages. Just wishing to "take back jobs" and blamining others won't do anything good..... If they want to take back these jobs, they should accept low wages. If not, they should let these jobs go. Otherwise, they should face steep hikes in prices. If prices rise, consumption will decline. Consumption is a huge part of the current U.S. economy..... Now, the conclusion is that best option is to let those willing to take low wages do those difficult jobs within the United States and to allow others to take high-wage jobs.

Well, it's obviously a win-win situation for these companies because not only do they NOT have to file taxes for these workers but wages are lower than someone who would be paid on the books. Why are the undocumented targetted? If anything it's these companies that should be put into shame because they probably take advantage of them anyway!

I wanna see an American try to be a house cleaner like my parents and be treated like crap by people. Then I wanna see if they like their unemployment better.

While this is not really immigration related but i think it is related to what i previously posted. Its basically an article that shows thousands of Americans who are unwilling to work minimum wage jobs because some of them feel that they are overqualified for those jobs, which some if not most of them are. The only people who are willing/ or pushed to get minimum wage jobs are the people who have exhausted their unemployment benefits.

It's funny to heard Glenn Beck say to this people that they are not true Americans because they refuse to take a job that pays minimum wage when in reality Americans have never really been doing those jobs anyways. Americans have always/ if not almost always (don't want to generalize here) had really great jobs. I mean if you work for the county/city or the state you have it made, not only do you have a pension but most of the time you have full health benefits as well.

Let's see them get nanny jobs, clean houses and office buildings, pick fruit, do construction, wait tables and wash dishes in restaurants, work in factories, etc. The fact of the matter is that these jobs would go unfilled because only a few people would apply for them.

What these GOP clowns don't understand is that the reason why these jobs were open for the undocumented to fill in the first place is because many Americans thought themselves above doing these kinds of 'menial' tasks. I've had USC friends tell me that they would never work in retail, work as a nanny, etc. Because what they want is a cushy office job where they do nothing but sit on their asses all day. And I know USCs who have done nothing but sit on food stamps and collect a check cut by the government each month, while living in Section 8 housing for the last 15 years.

So, how about instead of demonizing the undocumented worker, these GOP idiots actually work towards reforming the immigration system, so that employers can no longer get away with exploiting the undocumented.
I understand the whole, we're not supposed to be here argument, but the fact is that we are here. We are here and actually working. Most of us pay our taxes and work. We do not expect a hand out and only want to become legal residents of this country.
