Obama promised that he would tackle immigration in his first year before being elected. I understand that in politics, things cannot simply go the way you intended due to oppositions and various political hurdles.

BUT

They should have known better to ditch CIR and just pass the easy Dream Act when they realized CIR wasn't doable. With that much Democratic majority in Congress, Dream Act would have been a piece of cake. I'm not even in Washington. I'm just a lowly graduate student. But even I KNEW that CIR was dead.

So in an effort to make it look like the Democrats really give a shit about us (with the exception of a few Dems who really do), they decided to butcher this easy bill IN THE LAST WEEK OF CONGRESS.

You know what gets held till the very end? The stuff that aren't important. Democrats have proved to us that the Dream Act is reserved for last if there's time left. We are the least of their priority. We cannot vote and they cannot see immediate return on their investment. Dream Act will pass. Whether it's 10 yrs from now or in 3 yrs, it will.

I hope all of you take good mental note of those who voted against you today. I hope you tell your communities to do the same. I'm not Hispanic, but the minority voters will have a greater influence in politics in the coming years.

Democrats failed us.

I would not be surprised if the Republicans wisened up and took up the DA and passed it as their own agenda. If the Republicans do, then they deserve every minority vote for doing justice, even if it was for political reasons.

You don't blame republicans, did you see the vote? there were 41 senator who voted nay and 55 who voted yay. 90% percent voted of democrats voted yay and 90% of republicans voted nay, that is a fact. So stop being "oh democrats failed us", I understand everyone's frustration on this issue but is not the only one that got derailed by a filibuster. Hell even the 911 responders bill was also derailed, you're seeing the trees and not the forest.

You misunderstand us. We are not excusing the repubs. They are who they are and we knew this going in early. We had many chances and all of that was lost.

First let me just share my sorrow and disappointment for you guys.

Obama is just a sweet talker. He did promise immigration reform in his first year alright... And to whom? Have we forgotten his elderly aunt who 'swiftly' and 'magically' got her asylum status dealt with...

An other thing like somebody else mentioned, you guys might wanna stop drinking the kool aid. Politicians are dirty liars chances are they won't just give support the right of the underdog who really contributes as well to this country.. Maybe if you all were white Protestants decedent of the anglosaxons or Jews...

Everyone, go out and get married. It's hard I know but.. Hey...! It's an other hope.

I wish you all the best. Educated youth are the backbone of the next generation and America needs you whether those assholes see it or not :/

Do not pay attention to all the lip service press conferences after the fact. What's done is done. I don't know what we must do next, but until we figure it out, our lives have not changed since yesterday.

Just keep living. We will have our own savior soon.

I just emailed Senator Reid the following question:

"Hello, I would like to thank Senator Reid for his support for the Dream Act. However, I would like to ask him if he actually supported the Dream Act or did he bring it to the floor to gain more Latino voters for Democrats in 2012?

1) I am sure you realize that attempting to pass the Dream Act at the last minutes just made the Democrats look bad. It gave the Republicans a chance to protest that no amendments were offered.

2) Senator Durbin claimed that the senate passed a bill providing $600 million for border enforcement. Why did you not attach the Dream Act to that bill? It wouldn't have given Republicans a chance to say that we must secure our borders first.

3) Why didn't you bring the Dream Act to the floor when you had 60 Democratic votes?

I would appreciate if Senator Reid could answer my question. Did he really support the Dream Act or did he bring it to the floor to get more Latino voters for Democrats?

No Lip service, please. Thank You."

Let's see if I get a reply.
