I love Mccain. He always wanted a CIR and DA but he voted Nay on the DA because of the timing and border security.

Now, I really think CIR/DA will pass in 2011.

After I become a Citizen (if CIR passes), I vow never to vote for Grumpy Old People

McCain only backs immigration reform only when he knows that it won't pass. That way, he can gain supporters from Hispanics by telling them that "I'm all for Dream Act." and gain supporters from anti-immigrants at the same time by telling them "See? Dream Act didn't pass, I'm still on your side."

Ok this is the same shit he had been saying. Secure the boarder first, what make you think he is for CIR in the article?

I would agree with you, but he just won re-election by pandering to the far right and anti-immigrant crowd. So, what incentive is there for him to come out and even say that he supports CIR now, whether it passes in 2011 or five years from now? Either way he's a douche bag, but I'm just saying that he has his seat for the next few years, so what can Hispanics do for him?

The bottom line is that he could have continued his anti-immigration reform rhetoric. I still don't trust him because he's still saying secure the borders first and we all know that they will never be secure enough.

Good news. But, I really don't trust him either. Border security cannot be first because, as someone all ready mentioned, the border will never be secure enough. I mean can these Republicans DEFINE what they mean by secure? I think the border security argument is just a stupid excuse for opposition to decent, hardworking people's dreams. That being said, legalization and border security must come together in one bill. This is where Obama and Democrats can compromise with Republicans.
