The Supreme Court is making a ruling coming up on SB1070 next month and the Arizona law to this point has been written to where the state is going to win most of the case then the flood gates will open.
What is your opinion on how immigration will be dealt with this year considering that CIR and DREAM Act may not surely pass? I'm thinking that deportations will obviously start increasing, but what other measures are the states willing to take in order to deal with this issue of illegal immigration?

I believe if a person gets caught with a crime not a misdemeanor, a crime than their immigration record should be checked and if this is what she is intending to do than more power to her ...I'm not Latino but I don't see this as a betrayal to her people, but that's just my opinion.

Mannn this has been going on since Obama took over... Here in the east coast you step in a county jail with no proof of legal status and "bye, and you're never coming back"

I strongly feel that since the Federal Government is broke and the states rely so heavily on Federal money this means states are looking at some of the worse budget deficits ever seen in our history. I cannot name a state right now that is fiscally balanced with there budgets think about how powerful that is to everyone. All states are going to make a strong effort to cut off benefits to undocumented immigrants except for California maybe the most indebted of all the states. What that means to undocumented workers is leave that is the only way anyone can look at it. On the positive side once they get all this passed and done and numbers drop then you will see some type of immigration reform because most of the laws people want passed for CIR will be complete except securing the border. This economy is the true enemy of undocumented immigrants people want to point the finger so bad at someone for being at fault but the economy is the true villain in all this.

How is this Hispanic lady really betraying her people she was elected to represent the whole of New Mexico and doing anything but that would be not doing her job in the correct manner. Can you name one Hispanic official that was elected on a heavy Latino vote that truly helped out dreamers and don't say Gutierrez or any other politician that plays Hispanics for there votes. Show me one that has a record of successfully implementing action on undocumented immigrants issues?

Your exactly right they did not build those large new ICE prisons in Texas and New Mexico to lose money. So there is only so many undocumented immigrants that have a issue with the law. Once that number is taken care of that is when I am worried for my students and friends that are undocumented. Because as you see they keep making the offense of crossing that border or being here illegally a stiffer and stiffer penalty in these state laws we know what there heading towards and that is arresting anyone without documentation calling it a felony and sending you away. Something has to happen before this all goes into affect we need good leadership that will get good legislation passed to protect people from this fate.

They certainly did not build ICE prisons here in NY. Undocumented immigrants share the same jail cell as convicted citizens. Only thing they did was they brought ICE officials to deal with any alien thats tranferred into that county jail. From there on they do as they wish with them in regards of deportation date and time spent in prison BEFORE that date. I know alot of friends that unfortunetly had to go through this, so dont yall think of doing anything stupid out there guys, especially those with a degree or about to get one!

I preach to my students all the time and everyone I can on here. If you don't have documents don't get in a car with people that are in the same boat driving. Don't try to look like a gang banger, where your pants up, and stay away from those that do. Because right or wrong in my State of SC the police see you look like that there coming right at you. Stay out of trouble look clean cut and take the school bus and mass transit. And of course make your grades all the time. The children that do that are safe.
