Answer is simple..Pass DA/CIR along with a border security bill because that Latino electorate will be key along with young educated voters who are mostly for immigration. This is a game of chess that Obama needs to play properly if he wants to get DA/CIR passed before 2012 election and IMO he has made a very good move during his El Paso speech mocking the Republicans.
Exactly. He put the Republicans and the lack of bi-partisanship out into the light with his speech in El Paso. Very good move by him that would further degenerate Republican standing with the Latinos.

I feel as though the Republicans are putting their backs to the walls now. They have nowhere to go. I can only pray, like you said, for immigration reform to happen this year.

On this point, several articles reveal that Schummer thinks there is a chance at a CIR. Also, Schummer states that he has spoken to Republicans, and he thinks that they know that inaction on immigration is really hurting the Republican Party. Here is a link to a version of that news (it's at the end of the article in this one): http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/1...e-on-dream-act

Thus, despite the negativity by political analysts, I think something can get done with Schummer drafting a bipartisan CIR (hopefully sponsored by Graham) and Obama pressuring the hell of out Republicans. It can be done, especially in the House. Boehner might like an inflexible guy, but he has comprised with Democrats on, for instance, Federal Spending, which was such a polarized issue. Did you guys see that debate? Republicans were mixing the abortion and Planned Parenthood topics with spending; the debate seemed so polarized. But, something got done. I am confident that the same thing will occur on CIR.

Please read the above post. Is it just me or does it seem like Republicans seem worried the hell out. It seems like many are even taking moderate positions . . .

Oh whatever! Like Rep. Lungren is serious about immigration reform himself. He is also politicizing the issue. I just hope gay marriag becomes legal in the next three to four years so I can marry my bf and not have to wait for politicians to stick out for us, which many in the Republican side have decided not to do, even though they have co-sponsored legislation before.

Republicans are full of shit!

I am not homophobic, nor do I mean disrespect, my friend. But, knowing Republicans and their "values," I think CIR has a better chance just because of border security . . . .
