You want everything done in one big "wush" and that's never going to happen.
It takes baby steps to get something done. We will consed on Everify, But they will consed on the dream act. We can't have an all or nothing approach like we have been doing for the past decade. We need a give and take approach other wise we will end up with nothing. A peace meal deal is our best option under this circumstances.

Later we can keep pushing for CIR in small peace meal deals until both sides get at least 50% of what they want. That's called compromise!!! Nobody is going to get 100% of their agenda. IF 100% is what you're looking for then you're going to be disappointed.

First take care of your legal status then your parents. Sadly that's how it has to be, for now. IF you want both at the same time you might loose both.

This is a good opportunity don't wast it because you want to make sure every one gets what they want!!! (just my opinion)

I would take the passage of E-Verify to pass the Dream Act anyday.

if E-Verify traded and enacted before CIR passes, I understand the DREAMERS will be benefited. But what about the millions of other immigrants? They will face mass firings. I refuse to be benefit from DREAM at the expense of millions of the other immigrants who don't qualify for DREAM. If I were that selfish, I wouldn't be any different than the likes of Michelle Malkin.

The inverse of the stand-alone viewpoint can also be argued. Many agree that DREAM has a better chance passing as part of a larger CIR. If DREAM goes on the floor, GOP nut-bags will definitely cry out that immigration should be dealt with in a comprehensive manner. (not that they'd be for CIR either)

If DREAM has a better chance passing on its own, I am all for it. but I personally would not like to get any benefit if it causes sufferings to millions of other non-dreamer immigrants.

Let's keep the fight on. It's highly unlikely that anything will happen before 2012. Unfortunately we are again stuck with Evil vs. lesser-of-two evils. Regardless of how genuine Obama is in his pursuit for immigrant justice, we still have a better shot of anything passing if Obama gets re-elected. In his second term, he'd be more willing to look into an executive fiat since he would not have anything to lose at that point.

Again, let's think long term and keep the fight on towards a post 2012 election deal!

Overall, DA is a good bargain for passing E-Verify. Whatever it takes.
