Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) — a major advocate for the DREAM Act, which would create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children — said the new process will stop almost all deportations of people that his legislation is designed to protect.
“We need to be doing all we can to keep these talented, dedicated, American students here, not wasting increasingly precious resources sending them away to countries they barely remember,” Durbin said in a statement. “The Administration’s new process is a fair and just way to deal with an important group of immigrant students and I will closely monitor DHS to ensure it is fully implemented.”
And Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) released a statement praising the move, saying it is “a step in the right direction.” He also called for Congress to work together toward “enacting tough, smart, and fair comprehensive immigration reform.”

Will this force republicans to come to the table concerning immigration reform?

I wouldn't just go into ICE and turn yourself in , I say talk to an immigration lawyer and maybe he/she can file some kind of paper work of you turning yourself over to ICE , it's better to have a lawyer giving you advice rather than doing it alone , This is my plan anyways .

Lol, this has to be, I can't imagine a better news than this until the DREAM Act passes.

What if all the crimial immigrant have been deported? Which group is next? Guys, please remember that this doesn't make you undeportable. All it means is that they are going to deport you later on. So, please don't turn yourself in. It is a very dangerous move. It's not worth it for just a work permit. Remember, work permit only, NO SSN.

I do not want to sound corny, but big hug everyone. To all of my fellow dreamers who considered leaving, don't. STAY!!! THINGS WILL CHANGE SOONER THAN MANY OF US THINK. I can feel it.

Very good point. The process is dangerous. We still run the risk of being deported later on. Now, I hope Obama wins re-election. I don't think we have a choice now because I really doubt that a Republican administration would do this.
