Agreed. When are we most likely to be online at the same time? A weekday or a weekend? Mornings or Evenings? Weekday mornings are out of the question since most of you go to school and most of us work first shift (me)...

How about a Sunday evening?

ive been thinking of this, wat if we can get a national or some kind of HUGE protest to pass dream act or rubios proposal; i know its like a crazy idea but if we can come up with a innovational way to make this protest idea happen (ie. people stop going to work, school, etc) just for a day in a protest against injustice against us idk if ppl will do it but we can sure organize and try, start school by school to spread the news and make it contagious! make people want to do it, use social media... or! a deactivate facebook, twitter, etc week or day and make dream act or rubios proposal something that shines... wat im basically saying is we need to put this out there somehow

Let's get organized then. How can we spread the word? When should we do it? In previous years, they have always been done in May.

It's also a good way to get media attention. So we need posters that are right to the point.

Oh sorry. I need to read more carefully. I thought you wanted to organize a march.

march is good but we need to make this big, best way to make it big is hit social media, imagine everyone stops going on facebook as a protest to pass some legislation, now that would definately bring attention, or if everyone in college campuses take a day off as a national protest against delay for passing something similar to dream act

I have no idea how I missed this thread (it didn't show up as unread for me until now.)

I am with you on this -- and it ain't just words -- please see my comments about what we've been working on: http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=42674

What we envision for DAP in the future just isn't possible to do on a forum. We are working on something different, but I dont want to tell you "just you wait, we got something cooking." Don't wait.

What you are asking for, however, is essentially more sections. That won't solve the fundamental problems of organizing in this space. For example, why can't you use the Taking Actions section for this work?

Chat: In my experience chat has been useless. Think, do you accomplish much when you're on IM all day? People just end up shooting shit, making jokes, sharing lolcats and developing inside jokes. It's fun and all, but it gets us nowhere. I'm not completely against the idea, but my experience tells me that it is not worth the invested energy for me to get this working.

Energy: Recognize that getting chat to work, to use it as an example, takes a lot more energy than it seems. Getting a chat to work reliably can take days or weeks of my time, and will cost real money. This is time that I won't spend on something else.

I try to apply myself where I feel I'll make the most difference, right now that means working on a tool that can open new avenues for us. I'm not here often, but I am listening...
