I agree. Get Durbin and Gutierrez on board and others will follow.
I agree man, if he can capture some of the key figures then he has the senate at least locked. Durbin has been pretty quiet, he did deride the effort a couple weeks ago, but he's been quiet since. I think the senate could be this year's house in terms of 2010, it has a good chance of passing perhaps there, but even now it's a length to say which way it will go. The house though I think I can ascertain will definitely be the harder of the two houses.

UPDATE: 7:15 p.m. - Gutierrez said in an email that he left the meeting "feeling optimistic" that Rubio and Democrats will continue to talk, adding that details of the senator's plan are fluid.
"Look, I want to halt the deportation of immigrant families and youth with deep roots in the U.S. and I at least want to talk to people who have a similar goal," he wrote. "The big question that remains unanswered is how Senator Rubio's proposal helps build support among Republicans in the House who oppose immigration reform."

The House is going to be the obstacle my friends. However, I think Obama could make a difference by talking to Boehner. OMG. Remember, we just need all the Dems. to vote yea and a sufficient number of GOP Reps--not all of them.

Oh yeah, and Lamar Smith and his fucking committee. FUCK! I hope something good happens. A miracle. A fucking miracle.

One question: I assume Rubio has finished talking to the members of his party? Or, do you guys think this is a back-and-forth thing?

Guys, consider these two possibilities for the House: (1) Rubio is a Tea-Party-backed legislator. This might cause other Tea-Party legislators to support him for the sake of presenting a unified front. (2) I remember several articles from this year or the last revealing that the Tea Party supported some form of relief for us--but not through the original DREAM Act because it is "bad" policy. Was I on drugs? I remember reading an article or two revealing this. Many of us dismissed it as politicized rhetoric.

I have a feeling it may be a back and forth thing. Im sure his office is always open for both sides and will take whatever support he can get.

I do have to admit that this is the step into the right direction.

It might very well happen or the tea party republicans more likely revolts en masse. It wouldn't be unlike them to rebel against a popular immigration platform offered by a republican leader(cough George W. Bush). Either way it's looking guys like this is the year after all. Now or never. Reid couldn't even delay this without looking like a political trick. It looks like it will be decided before late December. We are finally at the dream act's last soiree. Thoughts?

True what you say in terms of the possibility that differences may arise within the GOP on Rubio's idea.

I hope it isn't a now or never situation. I do think that this is the year that we try to take advantage as much as possible of the fact that a Tea-Party-backed Republican wants to present a proposal that would provide us with relief. We need to act like we did in 2010. But, this time we need to protest for "Relief" (ANY DAMN KIND OF REASONABLE RELIEF THAT DOES NOT BAR US FROM CITIZENSHIP).

I just think it's a now or never solution because immigration restrictionism is already spreading like mad through states, plus with the news that illegal immigration is at net zero our opponents are bolstered by this claim. Plus if a Rubio proposal can't pass congress, I think that will just drain any congressmen from even having the desire to try to shake up things(besides Durbin.) Other then that I agree with you, the moment is now and we need to go in.
