At the same meeting, Labrador said any new pathway to citizenship was “off the table.”
He told McClatchy afterward that Democrats needed to come to the right “a little bit.”
"I think if they continue to insist on it, then it could potentially blow up the entire immigration reform package,” he said."
This guy is a personification about what is wrong with US politics, treating this issue as right and left. I didn't know Ronald Reagan was revered as a leftist.

“The promise then was law enforcement in exchange for amnesty,” Steven King
"I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and lived here, even though sometime back they may have entered illegally," Ronald Reagan said in 1984.

I hate politics.

So, they are taking years to write a legislative proposal that would give TPS???? Are you kidding me? They are proposing TPS.

Clearing the visa backlog can be easily achieved by moving the registry to 2001 - the year reform had been meant to happen, but for 9/11. Those who were present at that time, would have been here over a decade by now, and probably entered the country long before that. That takes care of the longest-residing illegal immigrants.

Then, 245(i) can be offered again so that those that have sponsorship can adjust. The pathways for DreamAct, AgJobs and H1B seem already agreed on, so that just leaves those who've been here the least amount of time with TPS.

Job done.
