I meant as in if they could agree to it and add it to the final bill.

You know, I first I disliked the houses version but when the senates version came out, they turned out to be really close to each other, so I think they both might pass

I was reading about the Senate version of the bill, and it said mark-up wouldn't begin until May 7. What does that exactly mean? Are they going to have a vote on it on May 7 or what?

Yes. Its just a matter of getting this bill on the floor and I think that will happen very soon if Leahy keeps up the pressure. After being referred by the Committee, it will be moved to the floor. That's where we will see the real opposition. Then its CSPAN all day everyday for me.

Lets just hope that morons will be in the minority this time. Though they finally seem to get the bigger picture - no reform = no latino vote, no latino vote = no presidency.

If Reid is smart he won't allow a moron like Sessions to add amendments. He shouldn't lock down debate, but each proposed amendment should be looked at under a fucking microscope before being allowed in, if it's there only to kill the bill, it should be lit on fire and shoved up the author's ugly ass with a CC to Session's. We don't want something stupid breaking the perfect bill we have now.

Seems like I'm not the only one who is surprised that we're still not voting yet. Our knowledge of how a bill becomes law proved to be very inadequate.

Markup is a rewrite, the senators post the bills, others will see it and gather around to rewrite it. Change this bit and that bit, to make it more passable. After the markup, we'll have debate, and then we'll have vote.

Ofcourse, we don't know how many debates will there be, it could be just one and it could be much more. Chances are, this is going to be pass later half of the year. Remember, we still have to go through the House.

They said the other senators and representatives will read the bill, which is more than 800 pages, then they will vote. So basically, all "voters" should read the bill first and they gave them 3 weeks to read it.

If the application process will start 6 months after passage than 1/1/2014 sounds good.
