This past election, the Democrats certainly did not "overwhelmingly" beat the Republicans at all. I wouldn't even say that they beat them by a good margin. It was a close election. I remember that Obama only won by a percent or two. I would guess that if there was no hispanic vote, Obama would've lost this past election.

However, what you mean is that, the Democrats (certainly) did overwhelmingly have the majority of the hispanic vote, which does sway the election in their favor but does not tilt the entire election by a wide margin in their favor. I hope more people would stop thinking that a majority of the people in this country support the Democrats. This country is gridlocked.
