Immigration speech from president. - Page 2

So would you rather have had the self deportation president? What would you have been writing on here if that happened?

My anger at my situation is not at this president because I have my own eyes. I came here during President Reagan's presidency. After the 86 amnesty which I was late for, I heard nothing about immigration. Bush, Sr? Nothing. Clinton, one of my favorite presidents signed the 1996 immigration law that made our lives even harder. George W passed the Patriot Act and a law requiring middle easterners to register, passed the REAL ID and made immigrants enemy #1 which trickled down to the state level resulting in driver's licenses being taken away and passing laws in Arizona, Alabama, etc.

Oh by the way, Latinos were W's biggest supporters because he knew a few words in Spanish and was a "good Christian" So it's not like all Latinos who can vote care about is their fellow immigrants. If they did, we wouldn't have Ted Cruz in power in Texas.

I mention all the other Presidents because Obama is the first one to make immigration reform part of his agenda. DACA is very real. You can call it a ploy or whatever but it has made a huge difference in people's lives whether they are smart enough to realize it or not.

As for all the "innocent" people, I see them too. I've worked with many people without documents over the years from all walks of life and countries. From what I've seen, the ones who just work and keep their nose clean are still here. The ones who get caught up usually screw up somewhere whether it's a DWI, getting in a fight, or hanging out with the wrong people and getting swept up.

If you have the statistics to prove your point please do so, but Just 7 years ago, ICE had it their mission to raid businesses. It seemed like every week they were raiding a business. I have not heard of a single case lately except for raiding homes where traffickers are holding people against their will.

I think people don't understand how much difficult it is to be the president and are expecting too much of him. All he can do is promote a cir but if the house doesn't get voting we can't really blame him that much

Surely, CIR is a priority for Obama, so much so, he will call Boehner and negotiate bringing legislation to a vote. So much so, that he will spend the next 5 weeks on the road fundraising and campaigning.

I'm sorry, but does this look as if the President is focused on passing CIR?

Unfortunately CIR is one political toy that both parties are screwing with..let's say the house does pass a bill,who's to say the senate will pass their bill..don't get me wrong Obama passed DACA for one reason VOTES...I HAVE SEEN THE BENEFITS OF DACA and I thankful that he used us to gainer the Latino vote ..The house is going to pass bills in small portions,no one can force Boheneir (sp) to do otherwise like pass the senate bill..even today all they Republicans want is Obamacare to fail..no mention of immigration all the focus is on this website failing ... Politics as usual...

I have searched high and low for any indication of Congressional DEMOCRATS, you know, Pelosi, Reid, etc, talking to Republicans about moving CIR legislation. There is 0 info to be found. All I can find is "Obama wants CIR by end of the year", "Obama says...", "Obama tells adovcates...blah, blah, blah". His incomplete 'push' for CIR, his supposedly No.1 priority after the shutdown doesn't schedule negotiations with Democrats and Republicans to finish legislation? Well, what other work is he planning next week? A 10 minute speech isn't going to cut it. The speech was given to 'advocates', not open to the general press, what a joke.

So every talk they have is going to be found on the internet correct? They are working on it. Let it go. Sometimes you just have to have some faith.
