I wouldn't be surprised if this does happen. Kasich has promised CIR in his first 100 days and several prominent immigration attorneys here in GA support him, so I am not concerned he's going to join the deportation bandwagon a la Trump.

However, I am worried about DACA ending on Day 1 of his Presidency especially if he chooses Rubio as his running mate. If it comes down to Hillary vs Kasich, I don't think she will win. He beats her in most of the national polling. But I do think Trump's supporters would want to shaft the establishment and either not vote or vote Hillary to send their party a message which could play to our benefit.

With Rubio in office we can't expect anything good.

The most important indicator will be Justice Kennedy's line of questioning given that he is the swing vote. If he a appears skeptical of the answers Texas gives then it's a good sign. Some people on the Right also think that Chief Justice Roberts might cave so even though it's a longshot, his line of questioning is also something to keep an eye on.

Kasich is the only conservative I have any ounce of respect for. He is definitely not as toxic as the rest of the field.

The central assumption of this article is the following:

"Republican Party elders have more than enough clout to make sure that “Rule 40(b)” gets changed prior to or at the Convention, thereby enabling Republicans like John Kasich who haven’t won a majority of delegates in eight states to nevertheless be considered for the nomination."

The Republican party is in a bind: either choose two candidates whose contentious positions could cost them the election - or infuriating GOP voters by going around them.

At the moment, the latter appears very unlikely. Time will tell.

Since when does the VP ever do anything. Rubio tried to basically repeat what Obama did: one term senator running for president. Failed miserably, wasn't able to run in both presidential and senatorial primaries in Florida. Trump took his home state. VP position is only thing Rubio can do right now to keep living off the taxpayers.
