Unclear whether these bills could pass the House. Neither could pass the Senate. Via @DeanDeChiaro

OK tough guy, what can the Democrats do? They got their asses kicked in the presidential election, they have minority in the Senate, they have a big minority in the House, and they barely have things somewhat even at the SCOTUS...

What's your solution? Do a march with Mexican flags?

So "Kate's Law" is basically jail time for illegal re-entry.

The other one will fail on 10th amendment grounds, courts ruled time after time again that feds can do whatever enforcement but can't force the states to aid them. Been that way since the first ruling on constitutionality of the first Fugitive Slave Act.

RACA won't ever get a vote.

Hah! I've got news for you guys.

All of these things are already happening. Laws or no laws.

Detainees under federal immigration custody who are caught re-entering the United States illegally multiple times already get punished with prison time if reentries exceed a certain number.

When i was in detention, U.S. Marshals would come in every Friday around 3 AM and pick up detainees who were eligible for prison time under these circumstances. And it seemed like a pretty arbitrary system.

Also, the whole Sanctuary City thing is a load of shit. It's all done at the discretion of the police departments. I was picked up by federal immigration authorities while i was being investigated, not even charged with a crime, and i have no criminal record. And i was in a Liberal city that is considered to be sanctuary.

I met kids in detention who were being picked up by ICE outside of courthouses while they were fighting DUI or other traffic court cases, not even convicted of anything yet. ICE picks you up even before you have a chance to fight whatever criminal case you may be charged with or you may have pending in court, no matter how big or small the charge is. Misdemeanor or Felony. Whether you have a criminal record or not. They don't give a fuck if you have court tomorrow, they throw your ass in detention anyways. I suspect they do this because it makes it a thousand times harder to fight a criminal case from immigration detention. If it sounds fucked up, it's because it is. The city where i'm in, my immigration attorney not only told me, but showed me an e-mail from ICE saying that they would stop transferring detainees from detention outside to court to fight whatever criminal cases were pending, and then back to detention as standard protocol. This meant that detainees would now be forced to miss their criminal court dates resulting in warrants being issued for their arrest if they somehow managed to get out of immigration detention. Yeah, i'll show you a whole new world you don't even know about, lol.

The feds have cast a pretty wide net and they can operate at any discretionary level they fucking want to. They don't give a shit about these "laws" that you guys are talking about. Discretion is a powerful tool that was handed to them by the Trump administration. Doesn't matter if you're violent or not, or if you have a record or not, they are picking up anyone they want. All you need to be is present here illegally.

These laws are totally irrelevant.
