A different take on the issue.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-polit...-trump-amnesty

Quote:
Democrats are bracing for a second wave of an immigration crackdown this fall: White House adviser Stephen Miller is reportedly working with members of Congress on a bill to curb legal immigration, while Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly refused to assure members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus about the future of some immigrants currently protected from deportation.

But it’s DACA that could open the floodgates

If DACA falls, it could start a chain reaction in Congress.

The deadline given by the state attorneys general in their letter to the administration was September 5. That happens to be the day Congress is slated to return from its August recess.

Some conservatives, whether openly or behind closed doors, admit that they’re willing to accept a compromise that results in DACA recipients getting to stay in the US. (After all, they’re US-educated and fluent in English; for people worried about immigrants as threats to cultural integration, DACA recipients are not the most imminent threat.) But they want something in return: expanded immigration enforcement to target new arrivals and unauthorized immigrants living in the US, cuts to legal immigration in the future, or both.

On the other hand,

"The Dream Act is back. Co-sponsors Durbin and Graham to hold a press conference on the bill's re-introduction tomorrow @ 12:30."

This is what I'm saying. There's another take on another media site.

This really does NOT mean anything.

Look at the comment "the White House official, who would not speak publicly because of the sensitivity of the discussion". So discussions are currently ongoing.

They have to say "enforcement first" in order not to get the media and the base all riled up! They have always said this. No need to freak out and jump the gun.

Remember that we are bargaining chips for the border wall or other type of enforcement.

I wouldn't believe this post. If trump hated us that bad he would of dismantled daca on day one. When he says he understands the issue now, he means he's had a change of heart. Let's stay positive.

Did I miss anything?

Quote:
Donald Trump will not support a new bipartisan plan to protect young undocumented immigrants — so-called “Dreamers” — from being placed back in line for deportation.
Trump said he will not support a Dream Act. Why are we fucked? Did he say he will deport us all? Just because he doesn't support a new dream act doesn't mean we will get deported.

Please prove me wrong. The title is jsut a clickbait.

He could mean that Trump wouldn't support this as a stand-alone bill. If it's attached to something he wants, then maybe. There's always BRIDGE Act, too. Let's not forget DREAM Act would be a permanent solution. BRIDGE Act isn't. 3 years from now, he could attach a new version of the BRIDGE Act to something else he wants. Honestly, why would he support DREAM Act when he could use DACA/BRIDGE Act as leverage indefinitely?
