I do believe we are approaching the final stretch, a moment that could be potentially rather historic. We're going to have to huddle together and make a run for glory without looking back! DACA on the brink! Trump on the brink! As far as I'm concerned, its time to fetch me some Johnny Walker Black and a nice cuban cigar.

On this momentous occasion, I am reminded of the most famous words uttered on this forum. These words truly provided me with some solace and calmness following the infamous Senate Dream Act vote in 2010 that effectively killed the bill. The bill was literally 5-6 votes short of passing. Had it passed, it would have become LAW! Take a look at the opening post by Nick in this thread:

This time we REFLECT AND REGROUP BEFORE September 5th, 2017 hoping that we have learnt from our past failure and approach the date with full confidence knowing that we have stood up when being knocked down and have put in the hard work!

Reading that thread was heartbreaking. I remember my own emotions during that time as I was graduating high school and my future seemed so uncertain.

Great to see the old heads comin out of the wood work. I was just a few days away from college graduation. Shit was scary AF. I had no clue what I'd be doing without papers. I started working at a liquor store and then worked doing simple bookkeeping work at a local Accounting firm..off the books completely. Did that for a long time and during many days I threw immense tantrums at my parents. Fast forward today, I'm a licensed CPA but even now with a good high paying job with an EAD..I realize life is still just as difficult! Those tantrums did me no good and only did damage. I put too much stress and anger on my family. Glad to have learnt this life lesson! If I am to lose my status again, I will never ever cave into anger like I did in the past.

^This.

I was in my senior year of college. I felt the same way. Shit felt awful man. I was depressed everyday from then until DACA.

When we are so close or the possibility exists of reaching a compromise, the Democrats and some dreamer organizations are derailing everything. Do not blindly follow Democrats and be willing to work with the other side when possible and necessary.

When DAP democratic supporters start freaking out or complain about living in the shadows if DACA gets rescinded, you can remember this thread and realize that you are assuming a position that sets back the community. If you disagree with me, then mommy and daddy must be buying everything for you, or you must have your own business and live in an area where you don't have to deal with ICE or border patrol.

I challenge DAP to create a survey and see how many of us would actually be willing to support the compromise. I am willing to bet the most of us would say yes.

Wow. In 2010 I was 12 years old and not even really totally aware I was even illegal having done literally every school grade here in the states and having English as my first language. I can't imagine what seeing the DA fail was like since I was still just an ignorant child who was looking forward to driving when I turned 16 back in 2010. I still remember when I turned 14 and asked my mom for my SSN so I could apply for a grocery bagging job with my best friend and being sat down only to be told I couldn't do that. I really just can wrap my head around something like what you guys are describing in 2010 when the DA failed. Being 19 and more aware of things now, I'm ready to stand tall and remain hopeful like you guys.

It was HEARTBREAKING because most of the political analysts were treating the vote as a now-or-never event. After the bill failed, analysts were so negative, and rightly so, that dreamers would not be getting congressional relief anytime soon.

You can search youtube for videos on the vote; there were videos of dreamers just breaking down in tears. It was heartbreaking to an unimaginable extent. At that time, some had already graduated; others were dealing with so much crap at work, and the Dream Act was going to serve as the way out. . . It was just awful. It was an incredibly awful day.
