The comments underscore President Donald Trump’s desire to see Congress approve a legislative fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Trump announced last week that he would end the program, but he first gave Congress six months to come up with a solution.

White House aides have long considered trying to get Democrats to support funding a border wall — a key pledge of Trump's during the 2016 campaign — in exchange for moving forward with a Dreamers bill. But, amid a massive public backlash over Trump’s decision to end DACA, the president has grown increasingly eager for a legislative solution to that issue.

No, it depends on Republican leadership bringing it to a vote.

The democrats are all in.

Nenener told ya sooooo. A clean bill won't get to trumps desk if republicans have a say, but he would sign a clean bill regardless.

White House legislative affairs director Marc Short told reporters on Tuesday that President Trump would not demand that border wall funding is tied to a legislative fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
He is specifically talking about THE WALL. Trump isn't going to demand the wall in exchange for DA because he knows how unpopular the wall is. Demanding the wall would make it impossible for DA to pass. DA would still require Border Security, not only for it to pass Congress, but for Trump to sign it as well.

The Democrats are not all in dude (YET). I admit they have been increasing the DA rhetoric lately but they really need to go for the kill. They need to accept the border security compromises. I am afraid that they will deliberately make Republicans vote no in order to make them look bad. What's promising to me is that McConnell and Ryan are both supportive (Ryan moreso) of DA. Also UWD is fucking up our chances by the day. They are too busy raising money right now, God knows for what, and they keep telling people that "Trump admin is racist. We must fight for DACA." Like no motherfuckas we need to compromise to get DREAM ACT passed. DACA is history!!

UWD is simply trying to cash in on this situation. They are probably making a killing on all the dreamers and parents that are freaking out over DACA ending.

Most (if not all) Democrats will vote for a clean DREAM Act. Most (if not all) Democrats will vote for a DREAM Act with some border security additions.

Most Republicans will not do any of this.

If the DREAM Act does not pass, most of the blame will still be on Republicans. Democrats can try as hard as they want to pass it, but if Republicans give absolutely no wiggle room (as they have done in the past on this issue and other issues), the DREAM Act will not pass.

Our expectaions are sky high for Democrats, but we expect so little from Republicans. We shouldn't put all the blam on Democrats though.

As long as Democrats keep their word and NOT VOTE on anything unless DA is attached, they will not get any blame. They have to FIGHT for the Dream Act, not just speak out in support.

And if they don't keep their word, but do everything short of shutting down the government, then we can blame Democrats and not Republicans?

I'm not sure. It's important to hold them to their word, but there's just so much rhetoric in politics. They may have been just setting the bar as high as possible to emphasize the importance of the issue.

I just can't see them going all out for us so close to midterms.
