yes man,

The DREAM ACT is the best bill and always has been for the last 17 years.

its fair and compassionate, and they can just add in border security measures.

It looks to me like the parties are fighting as to whose bill will solve the problem. Politricks is one of our biggest enemies. Why don't they just merge both bills and compromise?

i was gonna let this bill slide and support it despite the 15-20 yr wait for citizenship.

but the waiving of 5th amendment due process rights kills it for me. no way!

(a) VISA
WAIVER PROGRAM WAIVER OF RIGHTS
Section 217(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8
U.S.C. 1187(b)) is amended to read as follows:
‘‘(b) WAIVER OF R IGHTS
.—An alien may not be pro-
10 vided a waiver under the program unless the alien—
‘‘(1) has signed, under penalty of perjury, an
acknowledgment confirming that the alien has been
notified and understands that he or she will be ineli-
gible for any right to relief under sections 240B,
245, 248, and 249 (other than relief from removal
under section 241(b)(3)) and any relief not in effect
at the time such acknowledgment is signed, if the
alien fails to depart from the United States at the
end of the 90-day period for admission;
‘‘(2) has waived any right to review or appeal
under this Act of an immigration officer’s deter-
mination regarding the admissibility of the alien at
a port of entry into the United States; and
‘‘(3) has waived any right to contest, other than
on the basis of an application for asylum, any action
for removal of the alien.’’.

And without border security attached to it, I don't believe SUCCEED has any more support than DREAM Act. Most likely less support because Democrats aren't going to vote for something that takes away our 5th amendment right.

That provision is bonkers, any little misstep could lead to deportation without due process. Do people really want to live like that? Dems should hold fast against that.

So I think there is an age-cap:

Quote:
(C) was younger than 31 years of age and 21 had no lawful status in the United States on 22 June 15, 2012;

Doesn't this pertain only to people arriving to the US via the VISA Waiver Program?
Basically, it's attempting to prevent future overstays by haven't the right to appeal removed.
