The problem is that Dream Act covers people who came here looking for DACA as an incentive. Remember the surge of minors running through the borders right after DACA was executed? Republicans do not want to cover anyone who came here after DACA was announced.

I don't think they want it to cover anyone else besides the "800K" DACA recipients, that includes excluding older Dreamers. They could change the Dream Act entry requirement to the same as DACA but they would still complain about no age cap.

Well, thats a different issue. I most certainly think Dems should fight for aged out dreamers but it is hard to argue that people who came here looking for an incentive while the government was telling them that they would not be eligible, should qualify. My republican friends seem to support the Dream Act except the fact that it covers people who came here after June 2012.

Doesn't the 2017 Dream Act already include everybody?

I can see the case to not want to reward people who specifically came here AFTER DACA to take advantage of it, but for the life of me, I don't get why there is an age limit to punish those who came here before the people who already benefited.

It's been proven that DACA did not cause the surge of minors. This is an anti-immigrant group talking point.

I agree. I most certainly think we should all push for older dreamers to qualify. I would even argue that it was their fight that we are benefiting from.

I do strongly think the current version of the Dream Act is too liberal and needs to be modified somewhat.
