Government shutdown here we come. Good thing that the post office and USCIS remain open no matter what, only agencies any of us will interact with.
Let's hope Schumer and Pelosi have the guts to go this route. We'll see. Hopefully, it will be a very Merry Christmas for us this time!

Somethings got to give. I'm hesitant to say there is no hope as this time around there are other factors that were not in place when talks about DA were brought up. There's far more to lose this time around, not just for dreamers but other economical and societal issues that can stem, should nothing happen. I remain hopeful.

u know executive orders are subjective... when Obama does it, its unconstituional, but when Trump does an executive order, Republicans dont do shit.

hopefully this is the case, or im just hoping he can extend the deadline again in March or let us apply one more time.

but im putting my money on a december showdown, shut that shit (government) down. lol

all i know is we aint going back to the shadows swim, we too valuable for that shit.
Those are good points. Let's see what happens.

Don't hold your breath on a shut down just for the sake of the Dream Act.

This is an opinion piece, but to your point.

President Trump has challenged Congress to act. Democrat and Republican leaders say they want to provide legislative relief for DACA youth. One possible legislative solution is to make the current DACA program a statutory mandate as opposed to its current status as an Executive Action. But that would leave most DACA recipients in a perpetual limbo. A better approach would be for Congress to provide undocumented youth a path to U.S. citizenship.
I've been saying this since day one, it's going to all come down to the BRIDGE Act to save. As much as some of you guys don't want it.

What if Congress doesn't act? My bet is that Trump will extend DACA again. He has no choice, given the broad support for the DACA program from the business, religious and university communities. So no matter, the DACA folk are here to stay. You read it here first.

You haven’t responded to our question. What makes you think the bridge act will pass if is some version of the dream act doesn’t? You really believe republican house and senate leadership will bring that up for a stand alone vote? Sorry , but if some version of dream act doesn’t pass then the bridge act has no chance.

with all due respect jay, he has a point.

we cant really equate BRIDGE ACT and The Dream Act.

DREAM ACT = legalization.
BRIDGE ACT = just extends the issue.

if all options fails, these politicians will pass the BRIDGE ACT last minute, because it doesnt really grant "amnesty" and it is not a controversial bill. it just punts the issue 3 years from its enactment, which politicians are very good at.

BRIDGE ACT will most likely pass whether i like it or not, but for my own reasons, if all else fails im cool with the bridge act... whatever extends my working permit and then we can just revisit the issue again in 2020-2021.

but we can agree to disagree.

The Bridge Act as it is will not pass. Democrats or Republicans will end up passing something closer to DACA where we can renew, if all else fails.

isnt BRIDGE ACT the closest thing to DACA, minus the renewal part?

they can just amend that and add a provision that there will be renewals.

They could just amend it but they’ll probably release another bill. It seems to be the trend this year anyway lol.
