Washington, D.C. - Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after accepting the President's invitation to meet with him and Republican leaders on Thursday to discuss the year-end agenda:

"We're glad the White House as reached out and asked for a second meeting. We hope the President will go into this meeting with an open mind, rather than deciding that an agreement can't be reached beforehand.

We need to reach a budget agreement that equally boosts funds for our military and key priorities here at home including the opioid crisis, pension plans and rural infrastructure. We have to provide funding for community health centers and CHIP, as well as relief for the millions of Americans still reeling from natural disasters. And we must also come together on a bipartisan deal to pass the DREAM Act along with tough border security measures. There is a bipartisan path forward on all of these items.

"As negotiations with our Republican counterparts continue, we are hopeful the President will be open to an agreement to address the urgent needs of the American people and keep government open."

I thought Nancy didn't want to meet with Trump? Did she go back on her word? Wasn't she going to run everything with the other republicans and not Trump?

They canceled their prior meeting because Trump tweeted that he didn't see a deal happening. Looks like the White House reached out to Pelosi and Schumer and set up another meeting.

They are daring republicans not to come to the table with something that would pass the house and senate and is desired by the majority of Americans. Democrats are on fire!!!

In my opinion it was a tactic to increase the leverage democrats have by not attending to that meeting 10 days before December 8. Trump made it possible by tweeting "I don't see a deal" so now we are closer to a shutdown and now the GOP is more desperate to avoid it, that means seriously negotiation with democrats.

Exactly. People on here were mad they didn’t attend, but trump is begging them to come to the table. He’s such a moron.

Yeah the last minute deals are best for us. Republican will be on the clock to keep government open. Gives them less time to spread bullshit. They will have to act quickly.
