WH CoS Kelly says there was "a lot of discussion" on DACA at Camp David summit with GOP Congressional leaders. Says they want to give 700,000 DACA people the chance to stay in the US. Says they watched "The Greatest Showman" last night. Said people had "a couple glasses of wine."

As possible deal on status of young undocumented immigrants is pursued by Hill leaders and WH, Trump admin signals to GOP base that it's pushing for a massive wall. But for some activists on right, such a push is insufficient. They want $ + construction.

response by
@TheToddSchulte

1) Deal very possible but
2) Some far-right people DON'T care about the wall. They want to slash legal immigration by half or more. And they know that would kill any deal.

If it's just those three things that Trump wants, "wall funding" no chain migration for us, and ending dv lottery, there is no reason why Dems shouldn't agree other than they want us to lose status to be able to campaign on our sob stories. The only thing they should be negotiating is how much money they're going to give Trump for his "wall" that is, if they truly cared to help us.

I really think the sticking point is INTERNAL ENFORCEMENT. We are not hearing about this but there seems to be some issues with that. Some Republicans are very radical with this. With regards to Border Security which includes shit like drones and other technology, I think Dems are fully on board (other than those dirty ones who are planning to use us for elections).

The only thing that's not serious is the Gang of Amnesty's ridiculous proposal: amnesty in the millions, no end to chain migration, use diversity-lottery green cards for TPS aliens (T = temporary!), & pittance for phony border security. Get real!
- @TomCottonAR

Tom Cotton and Stephen Miller leading the Republican Party into a shutdown over a $33 billion dollar wall request and other poison pills is going to make Ted Cruz's 2013 shutdown look massively popular by comparison.
- @TheToddSchulte

Sen Bernie Sanders (I-VT): I am not sure why President Trump wants to shut down the government over a multi-billion dollar wall that no one wants, is not needed and will not be paid for by Mexico.

i also dont believe Trump is insisting on his wall publicly cause he wont get it. he is just saying that shit to throw red meat at his base. he basically said Mexico will pay for it again today. tf?

I believe the GOP is just letting him say this publicly because we all know our POTUS just wants public credit and how he is viewed by the public.

only thing he's getting is border fencing and the end of DV Lottery, chain migration for just us (maybe).
