The Progressives should give the Republicans a taste of their own medicine and demand the HOPE Act and a path to citizenship for the 11 million in exchange for their right wing agenda.

I think it is selfish of us to demand Democrats "give everything" to save us when it comes to immigration. I do want my parents' situation to be taken care of as well... although I know they would not care as long as mine is taken care of.

Anyway, I just hope something great happens to us... at least first...
I can guarantee that there will be no comprehensive immigration reform under Trump. I’m almost 30 years old and I’ve seen how hard it’s been to get to just this point of discussion. It’s literally a miracle that we dreamers are so close. If we don’t get legalized; no one will. There’s almost a 0% chance that your parents will ever get legalized while Republicans are in charge of any branch. Don’t fall for the Republican talking point about doing CIR, you will not like the result. Compassion to them is giving us time to self deport.

Yea, CIR will probably won't happen for another decade or so. The only remote chair of CIR would be another scenario with a Democrat supermajority controlling all branches of government.

It’s clear that Republicans are trying to use Dreamers as bargaining chips to get as much of their agenda added to it, and it’s unfortunate,” he said, referring to a bipartisan bill that would create a path to citizenship for certain immigrants brought to the country as children.

Sharry said if Republicans insist on expanding the scope of the deal beyond the DREAM Act, activists would expect Democrats to win additional concessions.

“If there is an expansion of the Republican agenda, there will have to be an expansion of the Democratic agenda. We’ll be evaluating whether that balance is equitable and whether there’s parity,” he said.

Durbin on Wednesday said he is aware of the concerns of pro-immigrant advocates.

By giving away the store on a DACA package, Gutiérrez continued, Democratic leaders would have no cards to play if Congress ever returns to the issue in the form of a more comprehensive immigration reform package.

“If you give it up now, when you go back to negotiate comprehensive [reform] they’re going to say, ‘That’s off the table. You gave it up for the Dreamers,’ ” Gutiérrez said. “You cannot give up something today and expect it tomorrow.”

Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) also suggested he’d oppose a DACA package that included the new restrictions on family migration and diversity visas.

“Let’s not get the DREAM Act saddled with toxic stuff,” he said.

Dem's are getting greedy even though they haven't solved DACA issue yet. So frustrating.

Haha.... I won't fall for it. I am just saying that Democrats are giving a lot of things to Republicans for the DACA situation, which are meant for future comprehensive immigration reform bills. Of course, it is foolish to believe these Republicans in Congress would do anything for our families in good faith.

But, it is a sad reality. Our future depends on the leverage that the Democrats have right now and the mercy of Trump and a handful of Republican leaders at this point. Unless the Democrats gain supermajorities and a Democratic president again, I think it is almost impossible to pass a reasonable CIR. Even last time, the economy and health care debate consumed all of the Democratic supermajorities' energy.

Trump's undoing of the DACA, ironically, could be our salvation.

What an asinine comment. You’re right, it’s my fault I’m in this situation. I should have stopped my parents from bringing me here when I was 3 years old. I should have returned to a country that I dont even remember and whose language I don’t even speak, when I turned 18.
