The chain migration proposal is the best we can get and thus should embrace it. If the House doesn't support it, then we can possibly talk about it.

Chain migration allowing our parents get a 3 gear permit is as much as immigration reform as we will ever get.

Talk about a win-win! Anyone saying our parents not able to get a GC or Citizenship now is just being greedy. This is the BEST case scenario.

As long as the Dream Act does not leave any childhood arrival behind.

You know what I mean.

The bit about renewable authorization for parents is essentially Dapa and seems reasonable...

The GOP for over chain migration is simple: They don't want additional blue-leaning votes in states like Texas and Florida. This addresses that aspect by not allowing parents (Likely 800,000+) from receiving USC and voting.

Yea that part I’m really hoping is part of a final deal. My only concern is that it seems some Dems are not happy with a deal that ends the visa lottery and makes changes to current chain migration laws. If enough Dems decide to vote against this bill we might not get anything. Will enough Republicans vote for this if it includes the work permit for our parents?

I agree that the 3 year provisional status is reasonable. As long as they are not barred from seeking immigration benefits via any other route (i.e. a 21 year old US-born child or USC spouse).
