The whole underlying reason (or one of the biggest reasons) of why the gov shutdown is because McConnell refused to bring a DACA bill to the floor. A bill will now be brought to the floor for a vote. A gov doesn’t shutdown over something and hat something doesn’t just get forgotten about.

7-12 days.... at least based on this morning news and how everything stands. The longer its closed, the more likely one side will fold...

It’s not necessarily about that, we just cannot trust them to keep their word. That’s the biggest issue. They keep giving a lot of say from people that aren’t from border states and are far right hardliners. You already have McConnell go back on his word to Flake. Ryan says that he won’t bring a bill to the floor just now. Even if the McConnell agrees to put a bill to vote, the House has ZERO obligation to pick it up.

It’s not enough for a bill to get a vote just in the Senate, or the House, or both. If Trump vetoes it we are done. It needs to be attached to a spending bill or it needs to have Trumps approval and passed before they agree to a spending bill. Those are the only two options. Getting a vote in the Senate means nothing for us.

One interesting thing Mark Meadows said just now:

“Talking to my Senate colleagues, there were a lot of promises made last night, but none that will become law.”

Exaxtly. They are gonna make Democrats pay for the shutdown and will turn down any DACA bill unless it is attached to spending bill.
