Trump on closing immigration loopholes: If we don't change it, we'll do a shutdown. It’s worth it..I’d love to see a shutdown if we don't get this taken care of..if we have to shut down because Dems don't want safety & don't want to take care of our military, shut it down

Not sure how this poll shows Americans want Trump's proposal when it cuts 50% of legal immigration through family ties. They want merit or family ties. Since when is a sister/brother/parent/adult child not a strong family tie?

If Trump shuts down the government because of immigration, wouldn’t it be bad press for him?

.@RepComstock just went toe to toe w/ Trump when he called for a shutdown on DACA. Most House GOPers would b2 scared to do this publicly. Pretty incredible: "We don't need a government shutdown on this." Trump interjects: "say what you want."

Perhaps. However, he is spinning it in the form of security and to protect America. Not necessarily for immigration. That's his loophole.
