They will instead consider extending the DACA program for several years in a provision that would be included in the fiscal 2018 spending bill that must pass by March 23. The measure, known as the omnibus spending bill, would have to also include money for border security and a southern border wall, but lawmakers did not specify how much funding.
Quote:
If there can be some negotiation leading up to the omnibus, perhaps there will be some temporary [DACA] provision, which to me is not great but it’s kind of where we are,” Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, told reporters after four proposals were defeated.

Get ready for March madness guys, we will be alright! Keep in mind this is coming from the republicans who refused to include any DACA related provisions in the previous spending bills.

There was no debate. The senators twidled their thumbs and at the last minute offered their amendments.

How about Democrats do what they said they would do: attach relief for all dreamers onto the omnibus bill.

I hear from our progressive groups that we are planning a large push for this to happen. Pressure your legislators because failure = deportation.

If you are in DC, @womensmarch will rally on March 5 for the DreamAct + gun safety. Both are interrelated and we must press on the fact that the Dream Act is about the safety of our families.

@womensmarch: "We need ALL hands on deck to take action to demand a #DreamActNow! 1) Tweet and call Congress at 478-488-8059! 2) Join us March 5th in D.C. as we to demand Congress come up with a solution to protect immigrant youth without hurting families! https://t.co/td1htD9JXh"

how is it even possible? they tried a couple of times when Pelosi did it in the House and when Schumer shutdown the govt but the Republicans werent having none of it. Democrats cant just attach relief to a bill bcuz they arent in the majority and dont control the legislative agenda and parliamentary procedures. even if they attach it, it still has to be voted on as an amendment.

the best they can do is a Discharge petition.

y do u always lie about this? stop spreading misinformation to the Dreamer community here.

Wow. Cornyn? I'll be damned.

At this point, I'll take the permanent DACA...anything so as long as we're not in this position again in 2 or 3 years.

Don't hold your breathe. They are going to ask for a outrageous amount for the wall and that's going to tank the deal.

Whey they offer nothing, "I will take anything right now!"

Maybe DACAs don't deserve anything with such attitude.

I’m not an aged out Dreamer, and I don’t have parents in the USA, but I don’t see myself better to any other class of undoc to the point of taking a deal where they will be thrown under the bus.

I rather have a perma daca, or keep the status quo if that means no extra enforcements or the taken away of these people’s chance to adjust through their kids or siblings.

I rather be this kind of immigrant, and not the ones who call TPS people freeloaders, and at the same time apply for a DACA renewal assistance check.
