Future chain migration is overrated

Put immigrants already in America first!

Thank you!

We (including our families) have contributed a lot to the economy over the last 10, 20, 30+ years as compared to a student coming on F1 and then getting a GC in few years through work sponsorship.

Talk about skipping the line. That's skipping the line in mind. Granted they came through "legally", well so did I - on a plane. Both of us (and families) had no intention of going back.

This is pretty good. This means that instead of all these foreigners coming in on H1Bs and taking jobs, more americans will get put to work. This is a sane policy. America is strong and big enough that losing out on the H1Bs is negligible.

Companies will desperately need skilled labor, and thus they will seek to regularize our status if they can get more qualified people out of it.

Less indians, what's not to love? Bye bye java programmers.

As someone who works as an engineer in high-tech who have a lot of context around this issue, I disagree with you wholeheartedly.

H1-B is America's secret weapon. Countries around the world would rejoice the moment we stop the H1-B visas.

We import the cream of the crop of people and they are what driving the high-tech scene in the U.S.

For example, everyone in India who gets accepted into the IIT universities attend for free on the Indian's government dime, but we import the best of the best of IIT to U.S. graduate schools and companies. They are literally driving the tech behind cloud, AI, high-tech manufacturing etc...

We are taking India's best people and have the Indian government subsidize our economy.

H1-B is not meant to import cheap foreign labor. You have other categories like TN visas for that.

To qualify for an H1-B slot, the sponsoring company must prove that they cannot find a U.S. worker to fill that position. The salary for the position must also meet the minimum salary, e.g. 100K-150K for an engineer position.

Joe Bob the cashier at Walmart is not going to lose his job because of H1-B.

The biggest issue with H1-B is the company who falsify applications and salaries of the applicants, but USCIS has cracked down on this a lot in recent years.

Big companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple need engineers and researchers that can help them expand into high-tech areas. This in turn multiplies the number of jobs for Americans, like people who work at Apple's retail stores, distribution centers for Amazon etc...

Without the H1-B, the U.S. economy would be nowhere near what it is at right now.

secret weapon?
lol? as if other countries couldn't and don't implement the same thing. and we don't import the cream of the crop people with H1-B this is blatantly false.

the jobs these H1-B workers have are jobs that should go to young fresh-out-of-college americans.
this category of immigration without question affects the american workers in these fields. there is no denying that, the facts are there for you to research.
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...b0522c7d3d84af

not to mention the inherent dishonesty in this type of immigration.
it's supposed to be "temporary", and instead of using them to train the "talent pool" that crooked CEO's say there's a shortage of, cause you know, it's supposed to be temporary, they are essentialy granted automatic status under a false guise of "skilled workers" and a "fair shake" at immigration.
look at these companies with the most visas being given.
a lot of them at the very top of the list are headquarted and based in india.
http://www.myvisajobs.com/Reports/20...a-Sponsor.aspx

we are essentially paying indian companies, to bring over indian workers, and compete with american companies and american workers.
how is this not a bad thing?
by defending H1-B you are essentially defending abusive labor practices by corporations. and defending the inhumane labour practices towards illegal immigrants as well.

"H1-B is not importing cheap labor"
this is clearly false if you look at the data.
companies with these workers pay them far less than american workers.
the whole purpose of H1-B nowadays is cheap labor.
why do you think you yourself are defending it by saying the US wouldn't be where it is now without it?
of course they wouldn't because the labor is so cheap.

What kind of an engineer are you?

I'm an electrical engineer and I disagree with you.

How many years of experience in the field do you have?

Being for chain migration as an illegal that has been here for 20+ years is equivelwnt to being in a marriage and not having your wife fuck you for years, but some sucker comes in smoothly and the right way, charms his way to your wife’s pussy, fucks her, and you’re cheering watching the hole thing unfold.

I’m on board with taking care of illegals that were here first.

Try to argue against that. I dare you.

Also, being for the diversity visa as an illegal is equivalent to taking your wife or gf to the bar, you haven’t made love to her in a while, but on this night there is an Arab man, Chinese man, African man, and a Martian. You pull names out of a hat and whoever’s name comes out, gets to give it to her and all the other participants have a better chance the following night to take her home. Meanwhile, you’re sipping your piss water coors light at the end of the bar hunched over clapping your sorry ass hands, cheering every time a name is called and knowing you have no chance.

Cuck a doodle do motha fuckas.

What's the spouse supposed to do all day if they can't work? The only reason they want to take this right away is to deter people from applying for HB1.

This anti-immigrant sentiment from the administration is not good for DACA/DREAM Act. This administration doesn't see us any differently from other immigrants and throwing other people under the bus is in no way helping the situation. The immigration system is broken here, but making it difficult for other people to become legal in other avenues will not help our situation.
