There's discharge petitions in the Senate?

I never heard of the discharge petition in the Senate, which is why I asked.

I'm not sure they do. The last article I read said that though 250 Representatives had signed on for the 'queen of the hill bill' votes, no one was sure if that would translate to the same amount of discharge petition signatures. It's easy to say you are for something when it doesn't have any real consequences. I still think they can get 218 signatures to the Discharge Petition, but they haven't attempted it yet.

"The “queen of the hill” plan solves these problems. It would bring four bills, in a series, to the House floor for a vote, and whichever one got the biggest vote margin in favor would pass"

The rule overrides the speaker and brings the bills to a vote. Then the one w the most votes, clearly, would pass.

discharge petitions in the Senate isnt really probable and if it is, its RARELY used and it is called a different procedure. Ed Markey is just able to do it because of the CRA (Congressional Review Act).

it does not apply to any other legislation. if that was the case they would've done it a long time ago for the Dream Act.

Discharge petitions exist to force a vote. Net neutrality is scheduled for a vote due to a discharge petition. Why legislators choose to use it is irrelevant.

CRA applies to laws or regulations, in this case the FCC.

CRA has nothing to do with DreamAct or USAAct votes as neither has been adopted by law or regulation. The discharge petition in the House is to force a vote to help DA pass.

always remember talks of Discharge petitions... how we forget. lol

2013.

How the Discharge Petition Can Help Congress Move on Immigration Reform
Monday, August 19, 2013

Is the Senate immigration bill doomed to failure? Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) says no – he claims that there are 40 to 50 Republicans who are ready and willing to vote in favor of comprehensive immigration reform if it comes to a vote on the House floor – far more than are necessary for the measure to pass. In a
recent interview with the Washington Post, he said “Some of them I’ve spoken to, and they say, ‘Love to do the activity with you, I want to be able to vote for it, I really don’t need to draw attention to myself at this point,’ but we can count on it.”

2014

House Democrats are introducing a discharge petition on immigration. It won’t work
March 26, 2014

But they rarely work, as Democrats have learned twice in the past six months. First they tried and failed to use one to force a vote on a plan to immediately reopen the government during the 16-day partial shutdown. Then they tried last month to force a vote on a proposal to raise the minimum wage.

I will trust the information from my WA state congressional reps' offices because...it's accurate.

The petitions referenced by the user above failed in 2014 because they were short of the number of signatures needed. That is NOT the case now.

so it's gonna pass this time and you with other 3 million qualified dreamers that didnt qualify for DACA will be finally be able to apply and be legalized?

do you have the timeline when this will happen since you have inside information based on your 100% accurate information?

do you think they have the numbers/votes that can override a presidential veto for Dream Act only legislation via Discharge petition?
