If the GOP had the votes, they would have passed the Goodlatte bill already. They don't have the votes.

Retiring Michigan Rep. Dave Trott now appears to be signing the discharge petition. (Can only be certain that’s what he was doing when it posts online. I’d bet on it though)

Fair to say this is going the opposite way gop leaders want. They whipped against this this morning. @JakeSherman
Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy have both weighed in publicly and privately against the discharge petition.

Their inability to stop their own party from breaking is pretty bad. Speaker is a lame duck.@JakeSherman
