Democracy actually works but you need an informed populace. Otherwise it's easy prey for oligarchs to take advantage. Especially when they own the media and therefore the information people receive. Notice all the billionaires buying the media. Muskrat buying Twitter. Etc.

Most are too lazy to get informed and take multiple and even opposing viewpoints to their own into consideration. It's actually kind of psychologically scary because of an innate fear of being wrong. In addition to pride because they want to be seen in a good light and fit into the crowd. For them, it's part of their identity.

I'm not afraid of being wrong and I'll even read opposition viewpoints. If they are right then they are right. Do I even have an identity? Depends on perspective.

So yeah, I just feel sorry for them. Oh well.

It's hard to push for better education when more than a half of the country is hung up on blaming everything on trans people and immigrants. They care more about the bathrooms people use and banning books than trying to push for better education all around and more affordable higher education. They care more about having the ten commandments in schools than pushing for modern STEM education and programs.
It's their playbook. Keep the masses stupid and distracted and scared of false threats. They fall right for it and elect "saviors" like Trump to "save America".

If the populace is misinformed, why don't you sell them shit and get rich off of their stupidity?
