We'd also need to get actors that support our cause.

great! i'm finally getting some response.

I can easily get volunteer actors.
This wouldn't cost us anything to tape it and edit it and all that stuff because i have several friends in the businuess who have all the equipment. ( i am also writing a short film this fall, so i got all that kinda stuff covered)

we can get (non famous) actors to play the roles of us.. giving facts. My idea.. starting one PSA off like this.. to capture the viewers attention.

" If one of your parents robbed a bank is it fair for you to have to go to jail too?"

( i know that sounds kinda harsh because robbing a bank isn't the same as going into a country undocumented.. but we want to very BOLDLY explain how unfair it is..)

and then continue with a few facts, make them all BOLD and enough to get people to go like holy shit that's not fair! if they want an education, thats not fair! we need to brainstorm something that would break someones heart.

Maybe have something quoting Obama talking about the Dream act? Do you think that it will benefit us to capture Obama's supporters? Or is it more important to try to capture non Obama supporters? What do you think is more comprehensive?

-Who are we targeting?
-What do we need these people to do?
- Why is this so important and crucial ASAP?

THE ACTORS:

Multi ethnicities ( to show that the Dream act is going to cover alll sorts of young people and not just the stereo typical idea people have in their heads)

some of them should be young and innocent looking ( because you need the audience to sympathize, and that is just how we are going to get them to sympathize.

some would be older and talk about the things they accomplished all on their own. college education, honors, this that and the other.

The PSA.. so we can throw it on youtube.. for free.. initially. Then i am going to start asking my friends who have connections with tv stations to help me get the psa running for free.

and if you guys can think of anywhere else we can show this psa let me know, i am in ny, maybe you guys in other states know people that work for tv networks too?

I wrote a lot. tell me what you think. think of your own psa ideas and write them here,

Think outside the box! no idea is too stupid or crazy! You need to think BIG and then tweak everything.

Make sure you include younger DREAMers. Age 12ish or so.

What does PSA stand for? I've been trying to figure it out ever since this thread was posted and haven't come up with anything. Excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Anyway, this is a great idea. I think if we're going to quote people (politicians and the like) we need more than just Obama supporters... we need Republicans who are pro-Dream, even a quote by McCain who was a supporter of the bill. As well as the military, professors, people that work for the department of education if there are any quotes from them, even regular citizens. Maybe go on the street and show people a picture of someone, tell them what he/she accomplished and ask them if they'd want that type of person as an American citizen or if they think they are American citizens. If they say yes, tell them they why they're not citizens and all that jazz... it would be cool to see people's reactions. (kind of like when Jay Leno does his Jaywalking thing but more meaningful).

I agree that there should be people of all ages and ethnicities on the video. Younger kids and what they want to accomplish as well as young adults who have already accomplished so much but can't move forward with their lives.

That's all I got for now.

Maybe some of us could send you our stories so you can incorporate some of them in what the actors say. Our accomplishments, struggles, dreams. I think you could use quotes by supporters, even McCain, as a transition. Maybe go from the younger actors to the older ones?

he means creating a video where actors would tell our stories to raise awareness of this issue.

i think its a great idea, we can always say our stories and why some of us live in fear knowing we arent free. we can get celebrities and big name university professors, news anchors, senators, (etc) with open minds who might want to help us. (first person to mind, tyra and oprah. but im not sure about what they think. tyra is more reachable though) but before we expose our selves we need to find their views of course. i think that having children in the video will be strong but not strong enough. afterall, the dream act is for people basically in high school and college who want to succeed and therefore we should use teenagers and people in the early twenties.
my pov..
