Before September? Thats even too long for me, how hard is it to pass a fricking bill? the bailout was passed in no time.
And the DREAM Act should't be part of CIR! it should be a stand-alone or attached to something that has a chance to pass sooner.
Ah impatience is getting the best of me.

how long does it take to pass a bill? A long time... the bail out was essential for the entire country... Dream is essential to approximately one million undocumented students with no money... of course it will take time!!!!

Let's make a separate forum where we can start calling Reid on this, we have got to make it separate or we won't stand a chance.

Look, I am 28 and soon the Dream Act would not cover me. I need this bill really bad. Also, just having the Dream Act pass in a month could make my life so easy. Still, I have been undocumented for 15 years, I can wait for a couple of months. That is the optimist in me.

Now, we can all call him and tell him to get the Dream Act as a stand alone bill and email, faxing and letter. Those are sugestions and it does not fit their "big picture." You can see that he sees this as an education issue but more as an immigration issue. They want a big piece of legislation to show that the democrats and the new administration are taking care of business, not like those pesky Republicans. In case CIR fails, they can always blame the Republicans of filibustering the 59 democrats in the senate- even though some of those Democrats are probably not that into CIR.

They only way to make them put the Dream Act as a stand alone bill or attached to an education bill is if we have the political power to forced them to do it. If we have it, we can force them to go against their grand plan and do what is more convenient for us.

Although some big organizations are truly pushing for CIR- yo Catholic Church!- many of them will not move their butts for just the Dream Act, they want the whole enchilada. Still, pushing and getting CIR is very hard to do.

What I think is going to happen is that CIR is going to come and we, as a smaller group, will have to ride that pony. Then, if CIR fails, we will need to summon our great mental and emotional capacity to keep the CIR momentum and push for it and get it done for the end of the year. So instead of calling it CIR will be calling it CIR and the Dream Act.

Again, this is not what I want but what feel the future will be- this is the indenial part of me. I don't like it mostly because it brings bitter memories of the past. When after CIR we galvanized ourselves just to see "them" filibustering Dream. It also reminds me of Tancredo making threats to all the undocumented students that were going to lobby in D.C with ICE.

^^But if we honestly want Dream to pass we shouldn't let that happen. In the coming moths there should be a few bills in the senate that Dream could maybe be attached to, such as an education bill. It's pretty obvious at this point that Dream must pass before August-September if we don't want it to get mixed up with CIR again.

I'm 28 years too and finished will all my studies. Sitting around and not able to work in my field, Accounting and/or finance. Its frustrating and depressing. Then, you have all these politician in DC dancing around the issue, makes more mad. Pushing CIR is like beating dead body. People like us, who r not involve with politics, can see it, how is it all these politician and advocate who are suppose to be working for us, can't see it? I thought Obama would be different. He would at least realize importance of a educated mind in a economy regardless of immigration status. Anyway, I'm still hopeful.

It seems there are more and more DREAMers that are getting closer to the cutoff age (im going to be 27), which could be used to highlight the urgency of DREAM. I suggest we bombard the following people: Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, and pressure them to introduce DREAM early this year and as a stand alone, or as an attachment to education bill.

Also we should contact Zoe Lofgren, who is the Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Immigration.

I would like to suggest that the DREAM ACT be introduced as a standalone bill and included in the educational bill as well. I would like to see this done within the first 100 days. Thank you.

Obama could greatly help us out if he came through on the promise he made during the campaign about passing the dream act ASAP. He can put great pressure on the house and senate leadership to attach dream to an appropriate bill that comes up during the first 3 or even 6 months.

The problem is figuring out how to remind Obama about the promise or statement he made in my sig. Ideas anyone?

^^ We should start calling senators just like before in large numbers. If a lot of people start calling in it is bound to get some media attention. And it wouldn't hurt to call and urge Durbin himself to try and get Dream passed in the first 100 days.
