Please juang, don't spread around that attitude. It's not about getting your hopes up, it's about motivation. It's the carrot on a stick suspended in front of us all.

If we want it, we have to go after it believing we'll be able to get it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should start counting your chickens before they hatch, but if it helps motivate you then simply picture the chickens. You get what I'm saying?

We can't have that attitude of "it's probably not going to pass," because then that attitude translates into, "I guess I wont work as hard."

This is a good year for Dream to pass. Let's give it our very best!

not to sound like an asshole, but i saw the senators that support dream act.. u can see it in the home page of this site...

51 say YES
5 say LIKELY YES (they voted yes on dream act last time)
and a couple are on the fence..

that equals to 56 votes for YES, we also have one senator that is "on the fence"... she voted YES on dream act last time...

so we have a total of 57 YES

were are we going to get 3 more votes from, keep in mind that sum senators may not want to vote at all, like Mccain did.

Al Franken, who is the likely winner of the MN Senate contest between him and Coleman, is not yet listed on the List of Senators. If you count the total, there are only 99 Senators, and Franken will be the 100th. We just don't know when he'll be seated. Franken is a guaranteed yes if anyone is wondering.

However, Sen. Hutchison only voted for Dream last time because she wanted to replace the path to citizenship portion of Dream with international student visas. Sen. Durbin will want to pass a clean version of the bill, and we don't know if Sen. Hutchison will vote for the bill if the full version of Dream is up on the floor.

^Kind of. He voted yes last time but sent out a letter to a constituent saying he only voted for it because he wanted a watered down version of the bill like Sen. Hutchison. I've heard from other people, though, that Coleman told supporters of the Dream Act that he supports the bill.

With Franken, we don't have to worry about him at all, and we can concentrate on other Senators we need for the 60.

Sen. Hutchison only voted for it b/c she wants renewable student visas without a path to legalization?? OR does she want renewable visas instead of conditional green card and later after the 6 years a path to citizenship??

please tell me, im dying to know...

isn't all this fight done and this bill is made so we can be able to stay here b/c its the only country we know, plus education?

wats the point of all this if they say, oh stay and study and then leave?

Renewable Student Visas instead of a Conditional Path to Citizenship.

Sen. Hutchison's letter to a constituent (I don't want to link because the place it would link to is dumb):

Quote:
I voted in favor of the cloture motion to bring this legislation to the Senate floor for consideration. My vote on this motion was in no way an endorsement of the DREAM Act legislation. In fact, I was prepared to introduce an amendment that would have replaced the language of the DREAM Act that had been proposed by Senator Durbin. My alternative sought to remove any form of amnesty. It did not promote any automatic path to citizenship, and it placed tighter parameters on those who sought to advance their college education as the courts and Texas state law have allowed. I voted for cloture on the motion to proceed to the consideration of the bill with the understanding that my bipartisan amendment would have replaced the original language of the bill.
But we should still try to convince her and tell her it's not an "automatic" path to citizenship. That's why she's listed as On the Fence.
