Precisely why a lot people (more than you tjink) do not support Bridge-shit. It only buys you one extra year at most.

Bridge act makes a Daca recipient's authorized presence and EAD valid only from the time one has received it until the date that is three years from the date of enactment.

That means that if Bridge act was signed 8/3/2017, your deferred action and EAD would only be valid until 8/31/2020. If you renewed this year and expire in 2019, you apply for Bridge status that will only cover you until 8/31/2020. The whole scheme is a sham. I say it as someone whose EAD will expire soon, too. So, I do have a lot on the line, as well as family responsibilities.

Caging meaning we still cannot go anywhere.
All the stuffs that you have mentioned, I am sure all of us are doing it or archiving it at some point.

Just saying Bridge Act is still not a permanent fix, and this act does stop at 3 years and we will not be able renew.

"if the BRIDGE Act is enacted into law, its provisions would remain in effect until Congress either changed them or repealed the law. "

Count the number of 3 years you have left and cherish every moment of it. Because if you sit too comfortably, it might be taken away, in a moments time.

Obama faced an unparalleled amount of obstructionism from Republicans.

Republicans blamed Obama for everything. They have less wiggle room for their blame game this time around.

Agreed. It's not worth going through all this crap only to fall back on Bridge Act. I need clarity in my life and can't keep on living 2-3 years at a time. It's got to stop and this is imo the best opportunity yet that we have of finally getting permanent relief.

We should not buy into congress' lies about Bridge Act being the most likely solution. All they want to do is delay the inevitable. We have to hold them accountable and pressure them for a permanent fix.

So much complacency here. I voted yes but i do not believe that the Bridge Act should be the first bill brought up to vote. If the bridge act passes that destroys any hope for a Dream Act of any kind in the near future. The Bridge Act should be a last resort if all else fails. There are so many bills right now in congress that are better then the Bridge Act. And not a single one will even be discussed if the Bridge Act is passed tomorrow. They have 6 months to come up with something and they are going to shove this weak bill on us in the first day.

Everybody who has ever negotiated knows that you start high when selling something then you work your way down, not starting low and then working your way up. I am all for compromising border security and eVerify for a Dream act, but that debate wont even take place if the Bridge Act is passed tomorrow. We would have to wait for 3 years and MAYBE they MIGHT JUST remember to talk about a Dream Act.

Some of you don't realize that if this bill is passed NOBODY will care about us for at least 3 years. They will say "Oh we already resolved the dreamer issue with the Bridge Act". Then in 3 years they will just extend it again, there will be no dream act if that happens.

I hear talk about the Bridge Act being a stopgap measure when it isn't, DACA was a stopgap measure. Right now while all eyes are on us is the time to pass a permanent solution and if all else fails then bring the up the Bridge Act, but don't concede so much so early.
