i'm planning to go back to college hopefully next year but the school is in NY and i'm from NJ (graduated hs in NJ). i wanna move to NY and become a NY resident but wanna make sure everything before i make the move.
i know that you must live in NY at least for a year to declare a domicile, but my question is a. is it possible for me to become a NY resident at all (to be qualified to apply for dl or state id)? and b. if i do become a NY resident, would i be eligible for in-state tuition even though i didn't graduate hs in NY?
fyi i'm trying to go to school in NY b/c i earned an AA degree from a SUNY school. i wanna go back finish my BA. plus the tuition is around $2000 per semester for in-state.

I dont know about suny schools, but after one year of residence in new york state you can qualify for instate tution at all Cuny colleges, as long as you have been approved for deferred action.

Just to Clarify : DACA recepients do not get in state tuition in California, even after living here 1 year.
Due to the fact that they already have AB540. Been living in Ca for 3 years, about to get my daca, school says even after that I'll pay out of state

Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully this will change soon.
So far, the only states I've found that have universities that will give DACA recipients
instate tuition after 1 year of residence include New York, Florida, Hawaii, Texas and Massachusetts.

that sucks to hear, knowing how expensive the schools are over here. I've been pretty lucky to be able to get in state tuition and Financial aid with the Cal Dream Act.

I just called Valencia (a community college) which is in Florida & they give in-state tuition as long as you can prove you were in Florida for the prior 12 months.

AWESOME! THANKS! Has anyone heard anything from MDC? I might have to got here because it'll be cheaper and I have to pay my tuition out of pocket.

I've called a bunch of times and was given the name of the person who could give me an answer but she never picks up or replies to messages.
