I am sure Obama will mention his old promises again and then go home and chill with his family. Next year same thing.

I hate it when morons who know nothing about politics talk shit about Pelosi.
Well it seems her pre-programmed response to anything is that she will let the Senate handle it first before it comes up in the House.

What type of leadership is that?

That is why I lost my respect for her.

I understand the "political costs" of bringing up a contentious issue in an election year.

However, when is something not a divisive/contentious issue in politics?

Oh really? Because last time I checked, Pelosi has been the one spearheading the progressive agenda since Obama took office. Instead of talking out of your ass, let’s have a look at the facts: recovery plan that averted a great depression? Pelosi; climate bill with controversial cap-and-trade system? Yep, that was her too; hate crimes legislation to protect the LGBT community? all Pelosi; health care reform with a public option? Pelosi again.

So no, she’s not sitting on her fatass, twiddling her thumbs, and waiting for the Senate to “handle” things. All she wants is commitment from the Senate that her efforts won’t be in vain. She’ll gladly take it from there. She's a big girl.

Look, she fought tooth and nail for public option in health care, and the senate swatted it down like a newspaper on a fly.

Whats the point of passing something if its bound to fail ? Shes saying, that she has the votes to pass it in the house if senate can send her something they can agree on
Never thought I'd be in complete agreement with you. Tip of the hat to that.

And as always, the best coverage will be on MSNBC. Keith Olbermann will be doing Countdown both before and after the speech.

PS: I'm doing a shot every time he rips disrespectful Republicans a new asshole.

Those are all ideas that already had some amount of political supporters and public support. REAL leadership is when you go against your enemies and even your own friends to fight for something you believe in. She hasn't done that so far. Let's not forget she has been Speaker for quite a while now.
