That will lead to complacency, which we can't have.

On another note, there is no sense in trying to predict who is going to vote what as if this is a game. Instead, just focus on calling, faxing and e-mailing those on the fence. But it seems like this board only mobilizes when a date for the vote is set. That's not the way to win DREAM.

If you've been here as long as some of us have, then you won't relent and just sit back and wait for the news to come.
I understand that it was really the DADT bill that failed.

Gut is the man. He is the one in control of this in the House.

no the whole defense bill failed.. and because of the dream act and not really because of the DADT. how? because minority leader mcconnell asked for unanimous consent to not to discuss any amendments that had to do with immigration (or in other words, he requested that dream act wouldn't be brought up as an amendment). and when reid objected to the unanimous consent request, mcconnell and all of his minions voted no for cloture.

what good is bipartisan support when almost all republicans are either too selfish or too scared to vote yes on the dream act and do what is right even when they might support it deep in their hearts? a correct statement would be DA used to have bipartisan support. blame this ugly political climate and the conservative tea party movement that scares the hell out of the republicans to vote no even on commonsense legislations. don't automatically count on any other republicans besides lugar and maybe bennett to vote yes on dream act.

DA still has bi-partisan support. You know that but it has to come as stand-alone and/or with CIR.

Just do us a favor and call it like it is. That does not mean we can't be optimistic about DREAM, but we also have to be prepared.

The DREAM Act having bi-partisan support is now nothing about a talking point. Sure, some senators secretly support it, but that means nothing without an affirmative vote. ONE Republican co-sponsored it: Lugar. While Hatch says he still feels "deeply" about the DREAM Act, he is moving further and further to the right.

We must not lose our sense of urgency. The Dems are poised to lose a lot seats, both in the House and in the Senate. Who is to say that even in the LD session, Republicans -- even those that support DREAM -- will cooperate on DREAM when they might very well be emboldened to defy the Democrats just to spite them. That's why we have to keep pushing.

If Democrats lose many seats, Republican are likely to challenge whether a defeated Democratic majority has the political mandate to pass controversial legislation. Democratic-backed legislation "would be seen as nonlegitimate," said John Samples, a congressional analyst with the libertarian Cato Institute in Washington.

That's what I'm talking about. Don't get comfortable; we need to put the pressure on.
