The vote on cloture in relation to the DREAM Act is expected to occur sometime on Saturday morning, December 18. If the Senate fails to invoke cloture, the Majority Leader could decide to try again next week if the vote is close and he believes he can succeed at a later time.

It's a nice thought, but that would undoubtedly create disincentives for voting on DREAM the second time around. Whatever votes that could be gathered up might be offset by on-the-fence senators who are loathe to vote again, especially when it would extend their workload.

The focus is on tomorrow.

Think of it like a poker face. They don't want to show their cards till they have to. Its a smart, yet annoying, move.
