It's not enough for him to just put the blame on republicans when he can use his executive powers to force the republicans to act.

I totally agree. If he comes out with one of those phrases "I will continue to fight for immigration reform," the hispanic community is going to be really angry. I want to hear him say things like: Congressional Democrats and Republicans were able to find some middle ground on immigration reform and will craft a bill in the next few days. Obama has the political capital to do this.

This is the list below of the people that will be in the meeting. To be honest there really isn't anyone important such as senators or representatives (arnold really??). It seems like its a meeting just to get latinos of Obama's back for a while. I would be very surprised if anything comes up from this meeting but hopefully it does surprise me.

Here's the full list of attendees, as provided by the White House:
Leith Anderson, President, National Assn. of Evangelicals
Hon. Michael Bloomberg, City of New York
William J. Bratton, Former Police Chief, City of Los Angeles and City of New York
Hon. Julian Castro, Mayor, City of San Antonio
Michael Chertoff, Former Secretary Homeland Security
Gov. John Engler, President and CEO, Business Roundtable
Hon. Eric Garcetti, City Council, President City of Los Angeles
Carlos Gutierrez, Former Secretary of Commerce
Raymond Kelly, Commissioner, New York City Police Department
Mel Martinez, Former United States Senator/Chairman, Florida, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean JP Morgan Chase
Greg Page, Chairman and CEO, Cargill
Federico Pena, Former Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Energy
John Podesta, CEO, Center for American Progress
Charles Ramsey, Chief of Police, City of Philadelphia/President, Major City Chiefs
Al Sharpton, President, National Action Network
Sheryl Sandberg, COO, Facebook
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Former California Governor
Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO
John C. Wester, Bishop, Archdiocese of Salt Lake City

While i do agree that this is going to be a worthless meeting, Obama is not an idiot. While i disagree on some of his policies and his inaction on immigration some of us can see what he is trying to do here, which is to call of the "attack dogs". Obama has been getting a lot of bad press from Latino organizations about his handling of immigration reform, DREAM Act, and the deportation of noncriminal undocumented immigrants. He is basically just trying to calm people down by saying "I care".... just not right now lol... Plus he is campaigning already for the upcoming elections, he has to start kissing Latino ass.

I was watching an episode of south park, where they have to vote between a douche and a turd and Kyle decides to skip the vote because he believes that both the candidates are a joke. I think Latinos and some other groups that want CIR and DREAM Act are in the same situation we have to choose between racist, xenophobic a-holes who can't get passed the mentality of "they took err jobs" and another group who just doesn't actually show that they care about the people that helped them get elected. Plus Democrats are racist as well, they just happen to not show it that much, i mean if you look at the past support of immigration from democrats you will see that they were against CIR at some point in their career. Point is Some people will skip the upcoming elections because they will have to choose between a douche and a turd.

Let me re-word my statement. Obama is an idiot on immigration. His lack of leadership on this issue is really going to make him look bad. Watch the spanish broadcast news in the next few days.

Its already making him look bad. Most Latinos regret voting for him. Spanish broadcast media is full of b.s. as well, all they talk about is "their maybe some upcoming immigration reform stay tuned at 11 for more info" its all ratings. They never really provide any useful information. Nor do they ever say how both parties have literally screwed us over with no lube. Plus is not just Obama who failed us, its the entire democratic party for not taking action when they had a super majority in congress.

Obama said he wouldn’t let the failed voted in December on the Dream Act, which would allow the children of illegal immigrants to attend public universities and achieve a path to citizenship, be the last word on that bill.

Rev. Al Sharpton told reporters that at the “unusual meeting,” in which Obama stayed the whole time, Obama asked the leaders to continue pushing their constituencies to apply congressional pressure on immigration.
