I understand that you are trying to be optimistic. Hell, many of us are trying to be positive, but this retard of a President is not helping.

It's sad because the Dreamers with their extrememely limited power have put in way more effort into pushing for this immigration issue than Obama himself and that's really sad.

It's obvious to me that neither the CIR nor the Dream Act can pass both Houses, secondly, Obama won't sign some kind of temporary order that can at least protect the Dreamers of good behavior that have stayed out of trouble. I guess the game plan would be for Obama to ask the Latino and Immigrant community in general to vote the Democrats back into the majority in both Houses so that CIR and/or the Dream Act can pass. Deja vu anyone?

Yeah...sorry I'm not buying it, if he gets reelected in 2012 without making sure that either one of those two Bills pass before then, why would he then push for Immigration Reform after being reelected? He wouldn't bother with it at all, it'd mean that he got by on empty promises and people bought them.

Why doesn't Obama do what he did during the whole Budget ordeal a couple of weeks ago where he kept bringing the leaders of both parties together practically everyday UNTIL a deal was reached.

When he starts doing that, then I'll know he's serious, if not, he's just playing on the intelligence of the immigrant voters and apparently, it's working so far.
I totally agree!!

Maybe he'll be more free to do whatever he desires in his second term because obviously there is not going to be a third term? There is no doubt he is going to use immigration as a tool to help him win in 2012. Question is, is he daring enough to actually get the bill passed before 2012? The interesting thing here is that if there is no bill, Republicans will be blamed for it and they will suffer huge losses in 2012 election. So, my guess here is that Obama actually doesn't want to accomplish CIR before the election so there is a backlash against Republicans. Arghhhh this is complicated.

You make a good point. But, Obama really needs to know how to work with the status quo. What if the 2012 elections produce the same outcomes? (e.g. Republican controlled house and Democrat controlled senate) Then, latinos' anger toward Obama is going to increase. He cannot solely depend on Democrats to get things done. This guy preaches bipartisanship on immigration, but he is not pushing for it, causing Republicans to feel offended and argue that the President and Democrats are trying to create a divide between the GOP and Latino voters.

Obama knows how to get things he wants done if he really wants to and if the issue is important to him; this is the same guy that pushed for Healthcare Reform and got it done despite the fact that those before him were unsuccessful, yet he got it done. CIR and the DA are just not high on his list of things to do, I'm not even sure they made it on the list at all.

I totally agree with you on both sides playing politics with the issue of immigration to get votes, and it's really unfortunate because as each day passes, we're the ones that suffer from their lack of action.

I'm just very skeptical about the immigrant community giving him their votes again for the next elections if he doesn't pass immigration reform before then, I just don't think he deserves those votes if nothing is passed before 2012.

So true, seriously, it just seems like he underestimates the intelligence of the Latino and Immigrant voters, eventually people will start catching on and seeing that his words and actions don't match.
If Obama does not get the DA or immigration reform done before 2012, he does not deserve the Latino vote --period. Dream Activist. org should craft a letter with this message, get signatures, and send it to him. I am so tired of this guy.

I really cannot tolerate Obama's political games. To clarify, failure is not the issue. If I saw that he exerted the same amount of pressure on immigration reform and/or the DA like he did on, for example, government spending and failed, kudos to him. I would say that he cares and is fervently fighting for us. But, his evident political manipulation of this SERIOUS issue just blatantly pisses me off.

Moreover, if you guys study the cynical history of US foreign policy in Latin America (for instance), that idealistic view toward the US goes straight down the john. You immediately think: if the US has done atrocious things in the exterior, why do we expect noble deeds from MANY of its leaders now.
